If you mean which blogging platform to use then I would definitely recommend WordPress.

If you mean the content, then you can consider to write something about graphic design tutorial or some graphic design experience

Your status seems to be of a graphic designer, go for your own Tuorials on logos, Header, PSD Tuts, HTML/CSS coding tuts etc etc,
And Yeah! there is Buzz around in the market for jquery tuts, if yr good at it, go for its tuts for your visitors.

You can mixed the content such as tutorial about designing with the latest job you get.
And don't forget to list down some market price for the designing job so that your visitor can use your price as references when they need it.

If you want to install a blog, give wordpress from wordpress.org a try. Create a /blog folder under the html root, install wordpress there and start posting.

Wordpress has tons of plugins that make it a flexible system and its light on the server. Unlike a lot of other content management systems, wordpress does not take up a lot of server resources. So if you have a small server, it should not affect server performance very much.

Here is an example of what I did. I was thinking of adding a blog to my site, but instead, I bought another domain name, installed the blog there and started building links between the two sites. This allowed my sites to grab a lot of slots in the google search results pages.

The reason why I did my blog on a different domain name, is for it to cover different topics then the forum.

I can not say that it is "better", but I have liked the results.

I too give a vote for wordpress as your backend, as for content anything to draw your reader in. You should use a keyword digging tool such as wordtracker, or a service like nichebot.com to figure out what users are looking for and then develop content off of that. I believe Tutorials and 'how-to' postings are invaluable as long as they blend in specific keywords for the search engines.
