Rentacoder sucks for coders, I highly suggest that you never use it. Go to guru.com and pay a small fee that you'll earn back within a week easily. Really though, if you use Rentacoder, you will get burned eventually. The worst management team ever to host a website, by far.

    I beg to differ slickyricky!
RAC is one of the best managed sites there is, all they require is you don't post sites and carry on most of your conversations onsite!
Abide by that and they rock!

Pay this fee and say "Bye, bye" to your money. Because guru.com has very small number of open project, but very many registered coders. Detailed statistics is not available.

    I have 718 projects, completed via RentACoder.com
    Link available in my profile.

As in don't link to work you've done. They're management is ridiculous and their commissions are ridiculous. You pay 15% to them, then another 3% to paypal. Guru.com, you pay about 5%, in total and they send you the money directly to your checking account. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY Better.

Very small number? They have twice the jobs RAC has. EASILY. I made my money back within two days. RAC, rapes you on every project, and has a completely unrealistic user policy.

Also, try using scriptlance. It is very similiar to getafreelancer. Very reliable.

"Really though, if you use Rentacoder, you will get burned eventually."

I had a bad experience with RAC too. They were surprisingly lame.

It's inconsistent, but sometimes it can be ok. Some of their policies are a bit lame, though; the recent "can't post a project that doesn't have clear or proveable objectives thing" being one of them. Oh, wait, you can do it...but it costs $50 to post it on their new bulletin board. Pass.

At Guru.com you just pay. You pay to get possibility to get some job. Of course - you never won any auction. I mean "subscription fee"

Yes, Guru.com has small number of projects. RentACoder has much more job everyday rather than Guru.com per week. I love RentACoder, becuase when I have problem with my buyer - I can ask about arbitration. RAC's user policy protect me against bad guys.

Guru.com can have any user policy. Since Guru.com collect subscription fee - user policy doesn't matter. How it works:
    1. Collect subscription fee
    2. Rent 2-3 "workers" to post fake projects
    3. Notify subscribers "Your bid is not choosen". "Please, renew your subscription".

Now I know you're joking. That fee simply weeds out the idiots who are just throwing up ridiculous bids, and probably don't know how to do the job anyway.

Guru has more jobs in two categories, than RAC has on their entire site. It's easy to check, just go search any category. What are you a paid poster for RAC or something? (paid to lie, that is.)

If they're fake project then how did I make my money back in two days, and much more after that? You're a joke, and your lies are a joke as well.

As a Buyer RAC was fine until we had to go into arbitration. Then the robots who run the service, started working. I couldn't get a live person to talk to me, no customer service to be found. I was out $1000 bucks - so, do they help and protect - I guess, but only themselves....

    I love scriptlance.
If you are really patient, and pay attention to the people bidding, you can find some real diamonds(coders) there!

When you want a designer I would suggest giving small jobs to people you find on forums then build a connection and give them the bigger jobs :D
