The truth of Duplicate Content.....

    OK,

    Lets clear some things up.

For those of you out there using Article Marketer or a similar service thinking it will gain you lots of backlinks....STOP! Eventually Google will filter out the links and you will be left with only a couple of links recognised...This is because Google recognises the unique content.

However if you do post the same article to lots of directories, you will not get penalised for this.... This is just a myth, it is just you are wasting your time.

So.... A lot of people use spinning their article to put out a lot of variations to gain links and this does indeed work, however it is best to ensure the output is indeed readable and makes sense.

Now onto the point most people don't know..........There is a lot of duplication between many sites and your articles dont have to be that unique......For instance, take two mobile phone blogs, they are reviewing the same phone, the words and terminology they will use will be very similar, it is just the placing of the words and order of the words which will change...Meaning an article many only be say 50% unique or even less for more technical subjects.

So in summary, dont get too hung up on 100% unique, because there will be very few 100% unique articles out there, go for as unique as you can.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

Previously, I have ran a test on duplicate content and I posted it on my blog.
Please take a look and let me know if this is in sync with your observation.

I believe you are right. If you can use original content on your site, you should. However my brother has a website he made with 100% duplicate content and he still ranks on the first page of Google for his terms. I think on page optimization and linking is more important than duplicate content.

this is absolutely correct, 100% is impossible in reality. bmus's post also repeats an-oft expressed confusion, which is known as 'the lottery winner puzzle'.

I.e. someone won the lottery last week. Therefore I can win the lottery this week. Er.. no you can't. SOMEONE will, just not you.

It's all explained here - unique content penalty explained

Personally, I am of the opinion that spinned unique articles count up to quite for your SERP's. As for the duplicate content, Google considers a lot of things such as duplicated phrases, paragraph sizes and bullets before recognizing a page as duplicate.

There is no penalty, just a reduction in the count of links as mentioned.

How much should you worry about article directories asking you not to submit your article to other directories? Do they check? What do they so if they catch someone doing it?

I admit duplicate content is not the right choice. why dont you submit your articles to choosen article directories like Ezinearticles.com or Articlebase.com

All my blog is duplicate content. I do not care. I care about my reader and my traffic, not google and their myth. I'm using fedburner newsletter, and my visitor is stabil and grow time by time. I'm not write for google only.
