I think it pretty much depends on your niche. Plus the fact that if your site attracts heavy traffic, think perezhilton.com, then article marketing is still considered effective. Add to that proper use of keywords, SEO and quality content.
No its stupid when people say it isn't for traffic. That's the whole reason behind it. You are building links and the articles themselves to build more traffic to your site. You will get visitors to your site from your articles, and you will get more traffic from serps. I rank high in different keywords simply because of articles, and the results speak for themselves. And I don't understand why someone quoted my previous post. made no sense.
Then in imdude's signature he has this, where he sells an e-book on it: Uh-huh. And how many daily visitors do you get, 3? And you know why I quoted you. You can't bullshit a bullshitter.
Article writing is one effective way to market, but it takes a variety of marketing tactics to get traffic.
@copper You don't believe anything anyone has said on here so its pointless telling you success when others already have. Even if I proved it you be like its fake or something. Not worth anyones time on here. Article marketing does work. If it didn't then tons of people's sites I've done work for and my own were magically picked by Google to rank high. Done here.
I realize you are skeptical about what people say on this forum, as am I. I'm making ~ $4,000 per month (and have been for nearly 2 years) doing 1 hour per day (or less) of article marketing. No e-book, nothing to sell. It's all about finding a great niche with limited competition and finding an efficient way to write & publish the articles. So article marketing CAN work. Most people spend dozens of hours doing it and make a few dollars. If you come up with an effective system, great results are possible.
I operate in a similar fashion but the numbers are different. I spend more time and make more money. I love article marketing!
Let me rephrase that for you: I don't believe most, including you, on this board, in addition to those blogs, and, sites selling crap e-books. This is from experience as an advertiser and marketer, using common sense, and well, using my fucking brain, which many here do not have. "Hey, wow! You made $10,000 last week! I wish I could do that!" Ugh. Besides, it is so easy to flush out the bullshit, which I already have in this thread. If you are going to be a bullshitter, at least be good at it. Show the url to those pages, and your site's url. Oh, wait, you're done here. I forgot.
I think that Article Marketing is a good place to start, its one of the avenues I am starting with for my collectors car insurance site that along with press releases, but it isn't something to depend on...One of the major things I've learned about SEO is that is just that SEO SEARCH ENGINE optimization....that means you want to rank high in GOOGLE or various other search engines and the best way to do this is to build relevancy with your site and its niche and beat out your competitors. So the best way to do that is to optimize your site to rank high for select keywords. Of course you'll need to have done your keyword research first and then work from there.
this just goes to show that you can lead a horse to water etc. If you bothered to actually read it, instead of just sounding off, you might just have noticed that it very strongly denies any kind of 'duplicate content penalty', and explains what the effects of using duplicate content actually are and why. It even answers your question about syndicated news sites. If you bothered to read it. I guess this really is one of those occasions when someone chose a really appropriate username.
As a matter of principle I don't read anything on this forum that's trying to sell me something. That page is just an advertisement for an ebook. I'm not wasting my time on that crap - try and sell it to someone else.
presumably you also turn off your TV when the adverts come on. It's your loss. While it may have an advertising message attached to it, what do you think ALL article marketing is? The important thing is that the page in question contains an explanation of why posting up thousands of duplicates won't help you. Which is actually quite simple. As you'd know... ... if you'd bothered to read it. here it is again just for you. you'd have to be very dim not to understand this btw, the 'ebook' it mentions is free, and is written by 'the maskedguru' (http://www.maskedguru.com).
I do not know about duplicate content penalty. but if you ask me, i would say article marketing is still alive and it needs to be done in a right way. submitting your one article to 500 article directories is not a good option but on the same time if you submit it 50 or so article directories, i think there is no problem with that. Make sure you have a same pen name in all the article directories.
the only benefit of posting the same article multiple times is that you might get some 'passing traffic' from the copies on numerous sites. It certainly won't help with your seo efforts. In fact, it can actually be detrimental as a side-effect of the way modern search engines try to provide a 'good user experience'. It's all explained in the article linked above. And it's all blazingly obvious, too.
I think, article directories can have a problem of duplicate content. Most of the articles that will get submitted to your site, will already be published elsewhere on the internet. Why not change the rules and allow only unique articles in your directory? You can make things attractive via allowing 5 links per article instead of 3 or what you allowed in the past?
Yes agree it is still effective, as long as you know how to market those articles, got some strategies etc, it must be Very Good.
Maybe some of us are not looking to improve long term SEO? Maybe that "passing traffic" makes us a pile of money? I don't post duplicate content or copy articles, but you need to stop making blanket statements. For some people, original content is the most effective way to go. But it isn't for everyone.
