You guys are so slow. Of course they are going to leave. Let them leave! They can take their money (or some of it anyway) with them. Obama has already forseen this. Right now, the government is throwing billions of dollars at new green initiatives. It is funding billions of dollars at science and research to build new technologies and figure out better ways of doing things! http://www.usnews.com/blogs/flowchart/2008/11/07/ibms-ceo-a-stealth-obama-supporter.html Anyone who is interested in working for the government, either directly, or through one of these large government contractors can be assured a job, and we will make this country better, without the greedy profiteers. The future is bright for the rest of us, and the planet will be green. The rest shouldn't let the door hit them in the ass on the way out.
Answer this one question. Obama told us there would be no airmarks in his bill right? The Omnibus bill? How many airmarks are in there? Didn't he break his promise?
Sure he did, but who cares? He can do what he wants with approval numbers above 60. As AnimeFevers says, it could be Bush!
I’m not surprised at all that his approval rate is going down. The man blatantly made fun of the Special Olympics on television, then in the follow ups he gave on college campuses he discussed that people with disabilities are different then us. He also put wolfs back on the endangered species list, even thought in places like Wisconsin their killing farm cattle (and farmers are not allowed to stop it). He wants to bankrupt the oil companies. Then finally the taxes he wants to put on us will bankrupt us and our next generation youth! Finally this time I can say “hey…. Blame the ignorant people that voted for himâ€.
Pfft. Wasn't the change you were looking for? Too bad. Cry me a river. For the record, not everyone who voted for him was ignorant. For some of us, this is EXACTLY the change we were looking for. You think Speaker Pelosi has buyers remorse?
The change people where looking for was not a "Change" in business as usual. Not a "change" in terms of politics as usual. Not a "change" in spending. Not a "change" or "hope" which would typically translate into something better. It was about one "change". Removing George Bush from office. That's all its ever been about. Their message has been clear. "Change" does not mean, better. It means, US, not "Them".
I don't think any of us wanted what he's doing. You may have wanted what he promised but not what he's done so far. If this was Obama's promised change he should have told us up front instead of lying to us the way he has. A river? We'll have an ocean after America is done crying over this twit!
Most of us are not surprised with what we ended up with. The few remaining that are, are still hanging onto the belief that they made the right choice. Its sad to watch people self-destruct like that. Really sad.
Christopher Dodd is behind double digits in the polls against his Republican challanger in the CT Senate race. The only support Dood is getting is from Obama.
BTW: Obama's approval ratings are *still* at 63% as of today. This idea that Obama's approval ratings are falling is pure fantasy. All that's happening is the right wingers are throwing a tantrum because they lost. Those on the far right wing that hate Obama are getting louder and they are confusing that noise (and that's all it is to the rest of us) with the opinion of the general population. To those of you (ksb2050 and whoever else) who are saying stuff like "I don't think any of us wanted what he's doing" have no idea what you are talking about (and you are clearly McCain voters.) I don't know a single Obama voter who does not still support the President and who would not support him again in 2012 against whatever loon the Republicans throw up there to challenge him. And yes! This is the change we voted for. I think what's funny is that the stuff you right wingers are complaining about most of us actual Obama voters couldn't care less about. The areas where some of us may be somewhat disappointed are in areas like the drug war (some of us may have dreamed he'd actually do the right thing by ending the federal government's war on drugs but realistically it's not politically possible at this point) and in continuing some of the Bush policies on wire tapping etc. Certainly there have been some areas where we are disappointed with President Obama but they are areas where McCain would have been much worse. I'm definitely pleased by the latest developments as far as the torture case against the Bush admin. It's amazing when you think about it, right wingers are getting upset because Obama smiled too much when he shook a dude's hand (no seriously, they really are) meanwhile George W. Bush & Dick Cheney are WAR CRIMINALS.
63%. Gallup is the standard for approval ratings. It has been for 70 years. When people talk about Presidential approval ratings for comparisons, it's Gallup that they are talking about. Nobody uses that *STRONG* approval rating from Rasmussen. That has no history. And if you really insist on using that ridiculous 34% rating then at least give it some context by comparing it to Bush's strong approval rating in Rasmussen as of January '09 which was 13%. "In the final full month of his Presidency, just 13% of American adults said they Strongly Approved of the way that George W. Bush performed his job as president." (LINK) That means as of right now, using your preferred poll, Obama is 2.6 (that's 34/13) times more popular than George W. Bush. That's actually even more impressive than his advantage over Bush's numbers in the Gallup poll. So when you look at it apples to apples, it's clear either way: Obama is a very popular President right now especially in comparison to the miserable failure we've had in office the last 8 years. Does that mean Obama is perfect? No. We need to keep the pressure on him to really push this country forward in a progressive way (a great example would be legalizing marijuana.)
Very good Zibblu. EXACTLY what I would have said. The only thing I think you should have added is regarding prosecution of the Bush Admin, are some immunities for Speaker Pelosi. It seems that she was made aware of, and signed off on the enhanced interrogation techniques prior to their use. Given her strong humanitarian record, I'm sure it was just an innocent mistake. The rest of them should rot in jail!!
