Is a yahoo directory listing worth the cash?

In general is it better to go for lots of cheap directories, or a few more expensive directory submissions? Any suggestions?

As a UK based business should I only go for UK directories or is it more important to go for high PR directories regardless of where they are?

Here are 42 paid directories to explore. If you are spending money, consider featured listings on pages that present a little PR.

Don't limit yourself to UK links though, a directory is global in most cases.

Do you think I should choose the directories based on the PR of the home page or on a general PR level from the inner pages?

After this last Google PR change, many directories that had inside PR lost it. PR is an important consideration, but it's not everything. I'd try to stay as close to the surface as possible though.

Paying for your link will usually accomplish that.

I know PR is the main consideration for directories, but I also get a little bit (10-30 visitors) of traffic each month from King Bloom. I submitted most of my sites when it was free, but I think the price was only a couple of bucks last I looked.

yahoo is worth submitting. until recently i had a luck of my site getting into yahoo for free. but really expensive of $299/yr. the best think is once your site gets into main yahoo directory, then the regional directories of yahoo will show you nice backlinks + pass pr (regional yahoo directories)

i believe these are the best 25 paid directories worth spending your money.

299 a year for a directory submission is crazy. I would not pay it. It has nothing to do w/ Yahoo! ranking either. I rank #1 for a few competitive keywords - over websites that ARE listed in the Yahoo directory.

    Maldives,

Went for alive, site-sift, incrawler and seoma. Also added to epitrope. The microsoft SBD, inner pages don't seem to have much PR -- still worth it?

Got another $150 to spend any high PR sites you can suggest?

    Thanks for your suggestions

    (shameless plug)

You can submit at my directory at http://www.2yi.net (PR6)
submissions are free and I believe express submissions (6.95$) and featured links (24.95$) are very reasonably priced
