click thru rate and ad placement

    wanted to ask what click thru people consider to be good for their website.

    i am aware that it depends on the industry and if the visitors are repeat

    let the visitors not be much aware about Ads and consider them to be unique and not repeat visitors (as on forums)

    our website is getting around 5 - 6 %, what are you getting.

    if we are low, we would consider tweaking something in site and ad design and color.

    5-6 percent is not to bad in my opinion

    I don't understand why people can't seem to "get" that this isn't how you ask such a question. You can't just gather 500 random numbers from 500 random people with 500 random websites with 500 random traffic stats and expect to extrapolate credible data with which to base your entire site design/plan on.

    The only logical, and remotely smart way to gather the data you need is to find a webmaster who is in your niche/industry, who gets about (or close to it) the same number of traffic you do, and ONLY then can you extrapolate proper data from which to compare to yours.

    So of course you have to tell us what your niche/industry is, so people in the same field can answer properly.

    It's really not that hard, folks. Help ME, help YOU.

    There is no absolute answer.

    Just as you said it depends on the niche and type of site. Our answers on ctr will not really help. Some people would be thrilled with 5-6%, others would not. I've heard that some sites have a consistant 35% ctr. (not me)

    To me, 5-6 is low, but I make/manage my own content, I also do not have a forum, just a niche site-

    What is in your control is the adsense blending, which can really help improve the ctr- If you are comfortable, post your url and we will have a look to see if we can improve it.

    nah you can give a ballpark figure... you cna always take an average of EVERY industry..

    I'd say 5-10% is what you should aim for...

    Remember though,, don't always strive for a REALLY high ctr.. You might be sacrificing that user from being a user of your site.

    i agree that it depends on industry and what sort of visitors are coming, but we could atleast make some idea of what click thru one should have on an avg.

    abt my site

    fitness section gets 8 %, and its just articles and not a forum

    other sections get 4 - 5 %, those are general news

    the site i am taking is having high traffic and impressions are around 20 k each day
