And the next person that posts anything idiotic (like "don't post anymore") or off topic will be banned (seriously).

    YAY.. Another YART...
All we need to do is, keep Nintendo away...
Who else is offering another prize?? and where is yfs1_YART_bot??
Couldnt agree with you more, Aaron.

    Bah!!
Infractions are not stupid, They are cool.
I got all of my Infractions when I was heated in some argument. getting an infraction instantly told me that I was crossing the line and I needed to be calm down.
Its just the prespective where you look from, I found them very useful...

I hope I'm not way too off topic :)

I *was* going to get in it...until I saw Shawns post!! :D

er, to be on topic so I don't get banned :D:D...for an example of a mod being fast, a few days ago T0PS3O was online. I saw a thread where the thread starter wanted the thread locked. So I reported it and decided to see how long, or how fast it took for it to get locked. I was SHOCKED. With in seconds T0PS3O was in the thread locking it!!!!

You are right. They are not stupid and are needed.

But they are really annoying to look at in the CP. If I couldnt see them then I would be happier. :)

I would hazard a guess that you got blasted with red for your 'Hilarious Video' post that was a link to actual footage of a real Post Mortem, under which you had written; Send it to your friends!

I'm not surprised you got some offensive comments.

I don't get where Labrocca, sorry, Rectangleman, is coming from ...

Personally, I think the mods do diamond work moderating these forums and the style of moderation is why DP is such a great forum, imo. I've been / am a member of other forums where the moderation is, or developed into, heavy handedness and it really devalued the forums. Sure, they were more 'on topic' when it came to seo / marketing / webmastering but they became ghost forums because of the rigidity. What's more important - rigid rules and no active members or hands-off moderating and a thriving forum?

DP is a success because of the way the forums are run - both by Shawn, and by the Moderating team - I don't know how they can be slammed.

I would say I think there are more youngsters around trying to make a quick buck (I think this was brought up already) and they can be a bit aggressive in their style of posting but it doesn't take much to coax them around to being a bit more relaxed for the most part, in my experience anyway.

Truly, I don't get where Labrocca aka Rectangleman is coming from. I guess you can't please everyone.

I think its just something every site that becomes succesfull has to deal with. Its not just targeted at forums.

The thing is like you cant ever change for people... Shawn kind of showed me that a long time ago

yepp.. If your site is popular and you choose to make any change, even a little one, few visitors go crazy about that..

That depends. Be too hands off and your forum becomes full of kids posting anything they want and it quickly loses any credibility as a professional webmaster forum and instead becomes a hang out spot (which I believe is the purpose of that forum I linked to).

It's a balance. Just having a laid back mentaility only gets you so far.

I like how the mods are anonymous here (except when you click the showgroups link). Shows they have nothing to prove. None of them feel inadequate so there is no need for a "Moderator" tag or badge under their name.

One thing about wickedfire.com - the site never loads for me, always just times out. I assumed they were having technical difficulties, but I guess it is something else.

I'm guessing that Labrocca wanted the name change so anyone researching "labrocca" won't find DP posts. This thread has so many instances of "labrocca" in it that you'd have to think it will start to rank in the serps for the word. At the moment the DP Profile for labrocca ranks at #3

That part I understand if he no longer wishes anything to do with DigitalPoint.

What I don't get is the stuff about Mods and DP being a 'laughing stock' and the rest of it.
