What is it with new sites?

    Hi,

A new websites that ranks for my keyword, has passed me in the SERPs. This website is only 3 weeks old. It has less backlinks and less pages than my website.

This site isn't fully optimized for search engines. He does use H1, H2 tags for example, but the site also displays complete texts in H3. The design isn't logic at all. Most pages are only accessible by clicking through at least 15 other pages.

I read that new websites easily go up and down in the SERPs. Is this true or is it possible that this new website simply passed mine based on quality of links and other factors?

Based on my experience, sometime new site may get very high ranking on google SERP for a few weeks before finally go to its real place. I have a blog that rank #2 for a few keywords and suddenly a new blog pop up and push me down, how ever it only happened for 2 weeks, after that I am back to my former position and that new site goes down.

    cheers,

nothing wrong in theory with the way your site is optmized if its only for the keyphrase on your home page, you have intext internal links etc....

you get some good quality links on that site mate and you could keep some really good rankings with the amount of relevant text you have

New sites sometimes get higher ranking temporarily. I call it Google honeymoon period. I believe google algorithms go in an overdrive to find breaking news etc.

Wait a few days and see whether or not the site is still there. I am sure it will go down soon.

Nothing to worry about... This is typical for new sites. The new site is experiencing the Google "honeymoon"... They should disappear to deep in the SERPs after a few days or a few weeks once the "honeymoon" is over.

Don't get to bothered with it, just continue with your SEO. That website will get sandboxed soon and everything should be back to normal.
