hey guys, can u guys tell me what exactly is bounce rate means in details and whatisits significance? and how to improve it? i ve got 73% bounce rate is this good or bad? plz help me with this.
a 'bounce' is a visitor that comes to your site (usually via organic search), views only the one page, then leaves. A lower bounce rate means people are coming to your site and looking around, higher bounce means they come, then go.. One good way to improve your bounce rate is to have plenty of good content and an easy way for the visitor to find it - for example, navigation links on every page.

Make your home page very interesting, and with clear links that lead to other also interesting material. Your goal should be to make the visitor to read as many pages as you can before he leaves.
Have good content on your site, make the content easy to find, catch the readers attention, make sure your information is credible.

higher bounce rate is not good for any website..............So Try to make it less than 50%............lower % in bounce rate means your site visitor are interested in your website content and there are better chances to get business conversion through your website.
What type of traffic gives you guys the highest bounce rate? Organic, direct or referrals? After just having checked GA for today I was a little disheartened to see that some of my organic traffic didn't even stay for a second. Yet some of the keywords used were exaxtly what I have been aiming for. Is this normal?
@FlashDriveDt: Bear in mind that matching keywords are not the only factor in making a visitor stay at your site. It is not only what you talk about, but also what are you saying about the subject you are talking about. Let's say your site's title is "Football". A visitor is searching for the results of a game, goes to your site, and finds that you talk about football strategies. He will immediately leave the site. A direct hit means that at least he knows what your site is about and likes it. It has the highest probability to stay. A referred hit is something intermediate between both.
A high bounce rate is horrible and the best way to curtail it is to make sure your traffic is relevant as well as your site is bounce-friendly -- meaning: build up some targeted, viral and good to read content then see what changes occur. Navigation on your site is a big factor as well, i'm trying to currently make my front page of the wiki I have not so bounceable -- I hope this all helps
Bounce rate is the percentage of the visitor who only visit one page (entered page). The higher bounce rate will reduce the chances get clicked. To reduce the bounce rate, quality content will helps
