    Hello Guys,

    I would like to register a new domain, which would be the better .edu or com?
    I think .edu is better.

    How can I get .edu domain?
    is it costlier than .com?
    anyone can register .edu domain?

    I want register this domain for my institute and promote it in major SE.

    I want to give some tutorials though this website for my engineering student.

    Please advise.

    I think domain .com is better because .com is first think on many people likely to search on SE.

    why do u prefer .edu. r u running a education related website?? If then it is good to register a .edu domain otherwise .com is better for ur website

    From the point of SEO there is no difference, what You need is to buy such domain that includes your main keyword, but more preferable is domain.com

    If your website is based on education and tutorials then I highly recommended to use .edu domain.
    .com domain is not means everything, just keep in your mind what your visitor is looking for? Target your audience and host your site on that specific country.

    edu domain name registration is limited to fully accredited postsecondary institutions of higher learning, such as example a four-year colleges. .edu domain registration is for the most part limited to schools(Grad/Post Grad) or any college/university .edu domain name registration is handled exclusively by EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization working to promote the intelligent use of information technology in education.

    You cannot get .edu domain as an individual

    .com domain of course. I doubt that you will manage to get .edu domain at all, if you don't own an educational institution :)

    if it is commercial purpose then go for .com domain and if it is for educational and not for profit use then go for .edu domain

    anyway still .com domain is the best for any purpose

    If you're an eductional establishment then go for .edu

    From an SEO standpoint, I don't know if Google ranks .edu domains higher, but I do know Google does really like .edu links and seems to give them a little more weight. I guess this is because .edu sites tend to be pretty authoratative about their given subject.

    As for keywords in your domain, this can help, but it's not essential. Remember, Google uses some 200 different parameters to rank sites, domain name is only one of them.

    I think Google doesn't care what's extension of domains. So .com is the best choice
