Well, dont you think cuil is just a failed search engine? they dont even have many sites indexed. You search for something, and you get something...Just try up for site... and anyone actually recieving traffic from cuil? And do you people r actually using cuil for search? i think all the traffic they r getting is from webmasters trying to see where they rank...
yea well, that may be the trust, as i cant find any reason why someone would stop using google to search something...
Think they are just wasting their time. When they started i thought they meant business. Google is still a monopoly search engine as for now. No up to the task competitor.
I wish Ask or MSN would buy them and use whatever is valuable and add the minimal amount of traffic that Cuil currently gets to their engine.
Cuil never improved at all since day one. All the hype just led to nothing but disappointment. Who do these people think they are anyway? Their product is horrendous!
You should try to get in contact with them. It is a joke! I called about 5 times and everytime someone answered (2 out of the 5 times) they stuttered and said that everyone was in meetings and they would get back to me. I emailed them over a dozen times (to 3 different email addresses). NEVER ONE RESPONSE.... I guess they are too busy in meetings to fix their engine. They will be gone or sold in due time, but until then - they really do suck!
lmao... Seeing this thread made me happy... finally we have other threads besides "the next Google killer". I agree; Cuil is a bad search engine.
Totally agree. Eventhrough they know much about the search engine but they dont make it user friendly. Besides, they dont even indexed your site and therefore it wouldnt get the updated search result. What i can say is this is totally fail and wish they are doing some good development on it
It illustrated what a massive undertaking it is to index the entire internet and provide relevant search results quickly. These people were so arrogant leading up to their launch that I really had hope that their product was for real. The very first search I ever did was for the term that I'm #1 for on Google. The results were filled with porn (totally unrelated to my product) and completely irrelevant results. Not even close! A year later it's barely any better. Remind me again why we're even discussing this farce?
A search that gets me 4 million+ results at Google gives me exactly 314 at Cuil, most of which appear to be Deviantart profiles and EDU sites. The DA profiles I can somewhat understand, but the EDU results are, well, out there to say the least.
I've tried the Cuil search engine every few months to see if there is any improvement, but the results are just awful. If they can't give the user relevant results, then there is no reason for them to exists. The layout is an interesting alternative to the other search engines, but giving worthless results in an interesting manner still leaves them as worthless results.
