Frustrated as wordtracker seems to be terribly inaccurate. After spending 1 year doing SEO for a popular keyword, i found out it sucks. LOL Test your keywords first with PPC to make sure they get searched
Yeah I can't stand wordtracker either. I don't know how they justify charging for such inaccuracy. Here are some better free keyword research tools.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about getting it. Guess I'll just stick with the time consuming manual searches. Can anyone suggest something better than Wordtracker?
i would not rely on any tools for much, the best way is to test it with live PPC ad's, conversion tracking, and in depth analysis of your analytics. Testing landing pages, then develop your site or marketing materials around them.
Keyword tools are ok if you use them as a guide and to give you a rough idea of what is being searched. Don't believe the numbers. Think about it. Do you really think that when the search results come back that the entire 3 gazillion Google databases have been searched? Impossible. You are being returned a small sampling of a DB. Then, to make it a little worse, that DB is probably located within the your local area or area of your ISP. So someone searching for a phrase who lives in CA will probably get different results from someone living in NY.
Wordtracker used to be great but the quality is pretty sucky now. My new favorite tool is seomoz.org which only costs $79/month. It's the best out there today and worth buying just for a month to dig up new keywords and even see how well your site is currently ranking. I use the Linkscape tool all the time which shows inbound links and their value. Check them out.
...anyone who works with keywords in languages other than English might also be disappointed with the tool...
I think that the Google Keyword Tool is better because it gives you more information, like how much the cost per click is.
I always did it with free online tools, never paid for access to a keyword database, despite reading all people paying for it saying that you need to invest money if you want to get good money in return, well I'm sure they can't beat my return on investment
Thanks for the useful tools. I had been using the free wordtracker tool, but a number of terms didn't seem to have very accurate statistics.
Me too. We have tried using wordtracker for 1 month but I'm not satisfied with the data because the data is only from US and UK.
