I agree, adwords will give you instant exposure, however as soon as you run out of cash you will no longer have any exposure. The effect of SEO on the other hand will stick around long after you have spent your cash, the results just take a while longer to come through.

That is a difficult question to answer. SEO is cheaper if you are going after a few keywords, but with PPC you can go after thousands. SEO limits you to two or three main keywords per page. I believe SEO is getting very hard to do these days for competitive key terms anyways

I think SEO is way much better than Adword.

Adword might be good for short term but not exactly profitable in the long run. :) By doing the proper SEO, you will get visitors mostly from search engine, and that means the particular visit is targeted, thus benefiting you more. Advertisers are preferring to this sort of traffic as it promises a whole lot more ROI(return of investments). Take Google for example, if you implement Adsense in your website, and getting clicks from visitors that directly came from any search engine, there is a high chance that you'll get most of the keyword price bidding. In other words, this will avoid getting "smart priced" from Google as the search was initiated from a person who genuinely search for the particular keyword.

SEO, but make sure that whoever is doing the work knows how to leverage web 2.0, since you have to do link building anyways, you might as well place content and your links on web 2.0 properties and get the added benefit of their authority and traffic.

Most known right now to name a few, Squidoo.com, Hubpages.com, Scribd, Wetpaint.com and the list goes on, check it out here at hxxp://xxx.go2web20.net/

replace the x's with the correct letters ect..

    hope this helps!

    Hi sara, they are :
    1. Forums - You are correct
    2. Directories - Slowly - 20 to 30 a month - No bulk
    3. Blogs - This has a big weight age - 20 a month will be sky rocket , see results in 3 to 4months - 1 Quarter

They come hand in hand, but I think SEO is better since you could spend almost nothing with it not like Adword. SEO is better becuase it's like a foundation to being succesful in Adword...

Its horses for courses... they both have their benefits and negatives and are both an important part of an SEM project.
The answer to your question is not as simple as 'SEO' or 'PPC', it depends on your client, their budget, their goals...

This is just not true, I have worked on many PPC campaigns where I've still seen traffic increases and purchases even after the PPC campaign has been switched off. PPC is not just about the click and the buy, its also about the powerful branding message that you can portray.

Again, I manage PPC campaign for clients where their initial investment is tripled in direct revenue, and this is just measured from direct ad clicks, there is also revenue that can be attributed to PPC even though your stats package will attributed as direct or organic.

PPC can be extremely targeted, especially since you can have some very long tail keywords in your campaign and have very targeted copy on your ads.

Don't get me wrong, PPC has its fair share of problems, like poor conversion rates compared to organic listings and demands much more time than SEO, but I wouldn't say it was 'worse' than SEO, it's just different.

SEO is truly the way to go. AdWords is decent, but paying zero, zilch, nada for every click sounds much more appealing to me.

Focus on SEO now and I'm sure it will pay off in the end.

People focus on backlinks way too much. I haven't used one back link in my SEO quest. My site has been up for about 2 months and I get 500-1000 unique visits daily already.. The first month it was building up to 100 a day, and now it's 500-1000+ by just updating and doing SEO everyday.

SEO is better, especially if you have blog. It is better because people find blogs through search engine and not through adwords. You will be in a good position for targeted keywords, people will find you.
But if you want to reach good position SEO will last up to 6 months (or more). If you give up after two months that will be bad spent money.

SEO is better in the long run because they are going to keep on sending you some targetted traffic even if you aren't paying for it.

I am employed by a company that is big on ADWORDS. However, that said. It is a factthat even Google has documented that approximatly 80 percent of the search focuses on the Organic results. Also, there is no Backlink juice from an ADWORDS program as it is a java script advertising platform.

If you are planning for Short term goals then Adwords is a good choice or any other ads Networks.
but if you're looking for long term plans and goals for constant traffic then better go for SEO.

The answer is it depends. You can't promote an information site with PPC it's not cost effective. Although if you are an e-commerce store selling high margin products it could work well for you.

SEO - long term solution. This has the possibility of bringing your site a steady stream of traffic.

Adwords - short term solution. Is only effective as long as your spending money.

Besides those 2, I recommend you spend some money on some good quality videos. You could post them on youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, break, yahoo video, veoh and vimeo. If you do not want to pay someone to make the videos for you, buy a good camera and make them yourself.

But between adwords and seo. I'll pick seo anyday.
