Its the biggest outage I have ever seen, its more than 12 hours. They had hardware failure and were replacing machines. All my sites are down Anyone else hosting at dreamhost experiencing same.
I haven't seen any downtime myself. Just signed up with them 2 weeks ago and only have 1 site and a sub with them so far. It' still up and running...
I sent them another email after first post and my sites started to come up. Its not only sites were down, I wasn't even able to get my account directory. Anyways sites are up but leaves a bad feeling. Check their outage updates here: www.dreamhoststatus.com
My site linkspub.com is down. With all of my other sites. I guess it depends which machine is down. We need to get this fixeddddddddddddddddddddddddddd.
Well. Linkspub.com is now up. So u guys can check ur sites, maybe they are up too. Good Job dreamhost
It started small and keeps growing. First it was one site now it's all of mine. Tech support won't respond to my emails. I can't even login to the Dreamhost main page. I think Dreamhost has finally gone supernova with their cheap hosting and are imploding as you read this. Black hole by the end of the week?
Just a word about Dreamhost. I'm not a representative or anything for them and have been with them almost 2 years now. But I think this is a company that really cares about its clients and literally replies to all support tickets on a personal basis. Other companies will just forward u to a help page. And the service they provide is great. I mean, u literally have just about every tool u need to host an interactive site. So I continue to give my thumbs up and continue to recommend people to try dreamhost. I wonder what everyone else's experience has been like. I'm sure it has been pretty good.
Good job Dreamhost? Uh, my first site went down yesterday and is still down tonight. That site generates revenue so it hurts. And, to add insult to injury my other sites have slowly joined the first one and are unreachable. I need to switch, this ship is sinking. I'm considering BlueHost or HostGator. Any opinions?
Well I'm taking into account the hosting cost. I mean what do u expect for $7.95 a month. Yahoo charges $19.95 a month and I dont know if they give u all of the features. I'ts nice to have seperate databases, with seperate permissions, for each user. I've heard alot of nice things bout host gator. But dreamhost has been around for like 10 years, so I'm sticking with em. Outages will happen. Just like car accidents will happen.
OK, I was finally able to reach the support page and they're saying that all the problems are resolved (they believe) and give an explanation of what happened. So shortly everything should be back to normal. I wish I could say that this was an isolated incident but I have one site with them that has been down probably an average of twice a month for the past five months. I know, I know, that's what I get for using cheap hosting...
A site down twice a month for the past 5 months. I would email them and let them know, cause this is kind of messed up. U know if u have enemies or ur competitors can write little programs, to bombard ur site with 1000s of requests per sec. I would also check ur log files to see what is going on. And I would set it in the panel to never delete the log files. Just let it stay in the logs folder. So u can check them for any date range.
Naw, no one is bombarding my site. They restart the Apache service for my site (after denying there is a problem 3 out of 4 times) and it'll run OK for a while. They finally offered to move the site today and I replied that I wanted them to do that and they haven't responded since. By the way it has been over an hour since they reported that everything is OK but I still can't reach any of my sites. I want to like Dreamhost, everybody always tells me that they haven't had any problems but that sure hasn't been my experience.
Aaah, ok, Maybe they need to just need to get rid of the machine with the bad apache or something. Lets see what happens after the change. take care. hope everything turns out for the best.
