I'm actually really looking forward to tomorrow's Tea Bagging Protests. Why? Because I think they are going to be unintentionally hilarious in the extreme. It's certainly not because I think these protests have any merit. I think it's obvious as day that it's a carefully constructed "astroturf" roots movement by Fox News and the rest of the Republican party. It's clear that the protests largely have nothing to do with tax rates (which Obama is actually lowering for 95% of Americans), spending (if it was about spending then they would have been protesting during Bush's admin), or bailouts (ditto.) These are the protests of people who ridiculously claim that President Obama isn't "listening to the average American" when Obama has approval ratings above 60%. Isn't the claim more realistically "not listening to the average American who voted for John McCain"? I'd be surprised if even 1% of the people taking part in these protests voted for Obama. So in truth what are these rallies about? They are nothing more than "I hate President Obama because he was born in Kenya and he's a secret Muslim" lunatic fringe rallies. And it's absolutely hilarious to me watching the GOP become defined by these moonbats. I can't wait for the entertainment! I'll be watching the Fox News' "fair & balanced" coverage of the event that they largely created themselves with a bowl of popcorn nearby. Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and the rest of the Republican leadership! HA! I love watching these clowns yammer on incoherently. These Sore Loser Rallies should be a blast. Maybe Norm Coleman will be there? He's the ultimate sore loser.
Ha! Obama ought to slap em with a "protest tax", just to let em know who won! That would be Hilarious!
Zibblu, I think you will enjoy this article: http://www.theweek.com/article/index/95352/The_Republican_Ruins
Tea bagging. LOL. Who's the idiot who decided to call it that? Guess they don't know what that term means.
Hey, I read that article! That guy is dead on! The Republican Party is dead! Check out these statistics
I think it was deliberate, didn't this thread immediatly grab your attention when you saw the words 'tea bagging'. 1000 people all teabagging in sync
The tea parties stem from the Ron Paul primary campaign grassroots. The impedus for the parties today came from Rick Santelli's famous CNBC rant against the bailouts. The GOP machine is attempting to co-opt the parties for their own agenda. http://youtube.com/watch?v=X6vGZAlN-xw The tea parties (at least amongst the liberty minded grassroots that started the whole thing) are protesting the government (and Federal Reserve) selling out America.
LOL Can we PLEASE get some conservative Republicans in here trying to defend this nonsense? I need a break from work and I've already got links lined up to prove the majority of the protesters have no idea what they're protesting about lol @ "enough is enough" after 3 months..... Pace yourself guys, you've got 4 years to hate Obama.
Clever. Now how about which taxes they are protesting, which bailouts they're protesting, and how on earth they think their (or even their children's) taxes will be raised
Exactly! Those people are all highly paid neo-cons sent there by the Fox news channel. Anyone with half a brain knows that Obama has this whole thing figured out. By spending trillions of dollars on helping the poor and bailing out companies like GM, the whole economy will right itself and eliminate the need to raise taxes on anybody but the rich ever again. For too long those thieves in Wall St. have gotten away with robbing 95% of the people in this country to line their own pockets, putting the whole country at financial risk. Going forward, Mr. O. is going to make sure they don't make outrageous sums of money until the rest of the country has a reasonable quality of life, including health care, education, and all the other basic rights Americans should be entitled to.
Yes, I fall into the 44% who believe that capitalism is not better than socialism. It makes me proud to be alive during a time of such history making change for our country!
I'm sure there were all flavors of people out at the various rallies (and I'm sure you can find examples to ridicule from across the spectrum), but the original idea was for people to protest the selling out of America to the financial elite. It was not a protest of a specific tax or even of Obama per se. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8fE0w0iCd1o Try reading Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse by Thomas Woods
Oh please. Like everyone doesn't already know that the meltdown was caused by George W. Bush and his greedy oil profiteers!
Actually the 2 party system has been dead for a while. The reuplican party is not even remotely related to what the true republican creed originally stood for and basically the same goes for the democrats.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd2tg8gxCDU I wonder why CNN's ratings are plummeting? BTW, it is ironically apparent (^ look above) their excuse for why they suck is complete bullsh!t..
I live in los angeles and attend a local community college. Obama has done little for us. He's given more to universities than he has to community colleges who are suffering the most. Most of the people I know actually really don't appreciate him anymore. They liked the idea of him but just like clinton was the black man's president, Obama is the celebrity's president. He's not my president he doesn't cater to me at all. In my opinion all he wants to do is help the middle class. That's the only difference i see between him and McCain. Nothing else stood out to me. He's really good at speaking and making public appearances but I feel the US has just elected another fool. Only difference is the fool doesn't physically appear to be one yet. His presidency will just be good for publicity of the US around the world. We'll suddenly appear less arrogant and such. I'm still waiting for him to pull of the "war on iraq" BTW the "war" wasn't for oil. Do your damn research. If it was for oil why in the hell have gas prices not gone down? Well they have but they'll be going back up soon from what I hear. It's a matter of how much each country bids on oil. If we're not the highest bidder we get higher prices. So if you want to talk about greed go to our sources not the fool placed in charge. The president has little control if you really understand the government. In the end they're more like puppets for congress than anyone else. The only thing the president does is the press and vetos really. He does negotiate treaties and such but really... Anyways my rant is done. I'm sure I'll be able to survive just like all the other years. And for the record: I didn't vote for any president. I wanted Edwards. I agree completely.
Actually, that's my whole point. These tea party groups had an opportunity to do the right thing and really target tax reform, which is something we can all agree on. Instead they squandered their moment in the spotlight with partisan bitching. They let Fox News turn this into a Republican agenda showcase in which the message was so chaotically spread all over that it was clear not many people knew what the overall point was. The VAST plethora of different agendas across all the people holding signs from gun lobby messages to amusignly ignorant mildly racist Obama protests is PROOF of that point. Because of the media blackout on the liberal news side I wanted to get both sides of the story. I watched the coverage and (I bullshit you not, no exaggeration) every other sentence spoken by the crowd interviewees, the moderators, and special guests attacked Obama and/or the current administration. With the majority of it having NOTHING to do with taxes..... They even (of course) took the opportunity to bring up Obama's citizenship, abortion, gays, guns, religion, and all the other issues that failed to keep republicans from getting booted out on their asses en-masse the past 2 election cycles -- but that they still felt they had some bitching left to do on. There were even conservative nutcases afraid that liberals would infiltrate their teabag parties.... The ironic hilarity of it all is that the only liberals at those events were ones there to take pictures so we could LOL.
Somehow morphing from tea party to teabagging is both obvious and appropriate. Whatever groups pushed for these protests are preaching from an economic stance that just failed miserably. Lets see....lower taxes....it was supposed to make the economy soar. Hmmm they went into effect at the beginning of the decade and the economy didn't soar....in fact we have the worst recession in decades. The worst. How did this happen w/ fed taxes on the wealthy that were dramatically 10% lower. Dramatic. Deficits....hm.....when it comes to the Right....I like the way Cheney put it.... The guys in power at the beginning of the decade could have cared less about deficits. Everything they did was about politics and power. How more bs can it get? When it comes to more tax cuts....Obama is focused on targeting tax cuts to those who might need it more and/or where they may do more good. Obviously the entire package of lower taxes and less regulation ended up in one of the biggest financial messes in the history of the modern world. .....and that is why modern day tea parties have morphed into a lot of gagging teabaggers. Its pretty appropriate.
