Yeah since those loonies on the ledge are in control of my government Well I guess they are suspected domestic terrorists.. I think when the people that make up the government are considered more dangerous than the government that represents those people, you really need to sit down and have a thought session on what the rule of government should be. When's the last time you've had a thought session?
Well I'm just stunned, Yes Bush was a horrible president, and yes hating him is a trend. So why is disliking (I never said hate, that's too strong) Obama childish. I don't know about others but I dislike Obama because he is a "remarkfully awful President". No other reason than that. If he's actually starts doing a great job I'd like him, but as long as he's digging us into a ditch I see no reason not to dislike him. Hating Bush was a trend, same with Obama, and what's funny is because it's for the same reasons. *the race card has no business being played in this debate. It's a stupid accusation that holds no water. This is a debate, keep it as a debate. (I'm in a very political mood today, I have no clue why, just need to let out a bit )
Ditto It never does, and never will. Those that play it tend to disappear from the forum pretty quickly.
Did not Obama promise us he would draw out all the troops out of Iraq in 16 months? Did he not promise a transparant administration? Did he not promise us no more airmarks? Did he not promise us no lobbyists in his administration? Did he not promise us five whole days to review all bills before he signs them? Did he not promise to lower our taxes? Did he not promise to half the natioal debt? Please tell me which one of those promises he has kept. You keep dodging the facts that are staring you in the face. Face it OBAMANATION!!! Obama lied to you so he could get your vote. There is nothing wrong in admiting you were fooled by his irrisitable charm, good looks and eloquent speach.
He is lowering our taxes. 95% of Americans will have lower taxes when Obama's tax policy becomes law. What's really funny to me is all of the right wingers protesting the tax policies as of April 15th... those were Bush admin. tax rates It takes awhile for new tax policies to become law.
You've obviously not read his proposal. No it does not. In fact not only can they and do they take affect immediately, the previous year can become retroactive. In other words, this last "Bush Tax Year" could in effect be reversed and many of us could end up paying the new rates for not only this tax year, but the one previous to it, ie., last year. How old are some of the people here? Anyone remember when Clinton took office and made his tax increases retroactive? A great many of us got anally raped by that move. You're obviously not old enough to have lived through the Carter years. Who remembers this: "Hi, I'm Jimmy Carter, and I'm going to be your next President."
Dude...he is raising taxes on those who make $250k a year. That is GROSS not NET. So there is a great chance that 90% of those that fall into that tax bracket will be people who are making $50k a year NET.
That simply isnt fair. Obama is raising taxes on the top two tax brackets. Right now, if you are single, that line is at $208k/yr. If you are married filing seperately, that line is exactly $100k/yr. 50k is Way off mark! Pfft... Neo Cons.
No, he and every liberal has been and is, and will continue to raise taxes on everyone. Anyone here like beer? Anyone here like a nice cigar every now and then? Cigars in WI went up 75 cents a pop April 1. Beer, a buck a 6 pack. I guess only those making over 200k/yr drink beer and smoke cigars. And these are just a few examples. Wait till they start taxing soda, and other things that every day people enjoy. Those that think only the "rich" will pay or buffoons. Those of us trapped in these blue states have it even worse. We're doing double time on the over taxation. Some of us are not going to put up with it very much longer. Just an FYI.
Man, I was looking into rolling my own cigs until I found out the tax on a pound of tobacco basically doubled the price! Tax on a pound of tobacco used to be about $1.82 or so, making a pound almost $22.00. Now, the price of tobacco is OVER $40.00 with over $20.00 of that being tax. I don't know many rich bastards that roll their own. Who's getting the shit end of the stick there?
Realistically, the more you tax legal drugs, the more attractive illegal ones become. It's cheaper to get a 12 pack of Dew, bag of Doritos and bag of weed than it is to have a nice Fuente and a beer.
Where's the evidence to back up that claim? I've never heard of being taxed on gross income. That sounds like some fearmongering nonsense to me.
And here I thought it was the conservatives who brought us the Prohibition and the War on Drugs. The tax on cigarettes and alcohol is another hallmark of the genius of the Obama administration. By taxing these things that are bad for you, instead of outlawing, you both generate tax revenues and cut down on the overall number of people doing them for financial reasons. An engineered tax if you will. Taxes, and tax credits, can be a tool for engineering desired behavior. Here is an example of how tax rebates helped make the world a greener place. The new taxes on big business are helping prevent those fat cats from lining their pockets at the expense of the poor. These types of taxes and tax rebates are helping President Obama mold this country into the shinning beacon of hope it once was. Sorry for snickering, but what are you seriously going to do... throw some tea in the water? To borrow from Obama's press secretary Gibbs, the Repulican "Cabal" is a joke at this point. Hostlonestar implied in another thread that Texas might secede from the Union, something also stated by the Governor of Texas. I suppose Texans are a bit high on themselves right now because their economy is one of the few economies in the union that is growing right now because of lower taxes and fewer entitlements. Lets get real. Texas isn't going to secede from the Union. The federal government sent a very clear message to the last group of Texans that acted up in Waco while a Democrat was in the white house. I'm a bit saddened that Pres. O. has backed off the assault weapons ban which definitely emboldens those types of radicals, but I'm guessing he probably has information we don't. It reminds me that Hurricane Katrina was a double gift for us liberals. Not only did we get to blame Bush for the "mis-handling" of a natural disaster while completely ignoring how badly Democrat state officials did, but we transplanted a massive population of people who vote Democrat into Houston Texas, a "Redder than red" state. Perhaps you haven't been paying attention but we have well funded political action committees that have been focusing on major population centers, one at a time, and Texas is definitely on that list. Before we are done with you, we will have married gay illegal immigrants marching in your streets to make all guns illegal and we will get the legislation pushed through.
Careful what you wish for, eventually something you enjoy will fall prey to socialism as well. Seems you may have already been molded as you imply. Sad.
