It is still very hard for a new site to get that backlink from "pretty well known site". This new site can be changed to a gambling site or something else in the bad neighborhood the next day.
Yes for a new site it isnt easy but if you dont try then you wont get the link. Ok next tip Getting links from pages no longer in use http://www.bbc.co.uk/antiques/ Over 700 links going to a page with nothing on. Its pretty simple really, if you have a site relating to antiques then you just email the sites linking to that site telling them you have a useful resource then would benefit there readers rather than them linking to a blank page. Theres a ton a search strings you can do for this to find pages and domains that no longer publish Remember to drill down for the root domain or page to find as many pages as possible that dont exist that people are linking to "service no longer available" or "site no longer available" or "page no longer available", "page expired" Also product specific like "product no longer for sale" etc... Use your imagination with this and define the searches further by using your niches keywords So your looking for sites and pages that no longer exist or have expired and then going sfter the sites that link to them. Its useful to those as they dont want to link to a page/site with nothing on Also have a look at matt cutts blog post on a similar topic
Can you show us a sample? A link or something as a proof? Even for this one. A proof will clear lots of suspicions! What types of search strings? Can you show us a few of them which are particularly good and useful.
thanx yeh theres allways new idea out there Just think outside the box and take in everything around you. Weve just setup a system for a client where if a customers buys something they get sent an email with a 10% voucher banner for them to put on their site, works great as they get discount and our client gets a link
DIGIBOYZ TIPS Hey some nice tips for people that never think out of the box, I agree one of the best way to get strong links is by helping or rewarding people. I dont really give out too much info, but you started a thread so I will just keep it going a little more and it would also be good to hear other peoples out of the box ideas. A simple one that is easy to do and quite effective is download http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html XENU check a site you want a link from for broken links, then email them and let them know the negatives of having so many broken links. Fingers crossed they may want to give you a nice link back
Damn you digiboyz, I've been sitting on this one for ages and was hoping nobody would ever reveal it. That tool can be very powerful in the right hands....oh well I suppose it's for the greater good
Sorry, but hopefully its there to help us all, obviously im only giving minor hints, but something that will make people begin thinking out of the box abit more and maybe clean up DP

My pleasure Ok time for another. A lot of people say emailing for links is dead but you can still get some decent results using this method if its done right. First have a look over the site you want to get the link from. Pick a post that you know you have something similar on your site. Then you can email the site owner with something like "i liked this post, i wrote a post last month that i feel covers a similar topic and could be of interest to your readers, would you be interested in adding my post link to your post? So your giving them "the bait" because it would give value to the sites readers which makes it relevant and more likely to add the link. Also look for the sites owner on twitter etc.. build up a relationship with them, keep an eye on breaking news in the niche and tip them off, this way the owner can write about the latest breaking news and he may link to you as a thanx.
