Sorry I'm not good in server thing. Why people buy additional ip addresses? One is not enough?
    What are the benefits?

Let say you have 2 websites and one is ecommerce. You have to have a dedicated ip adresse for the domain the ssl certificate is on.

Im sure there is more uses to this.

SSL is one of the main reasons. Also, sometimes you don't want your email server on the same IP as your webserver for spam reasons. An ecommerce site with a lot of orders or other legitimate emails faces an uphill battle against others' email servers, and getting a reputable site off the spam lists is a constant struggle. You don't want your office email to be associated with your web email, and vice versa.

A lot of times, you simply want your websites segmented on your server. IP addresses are the easiest way to do this externally.

There's probably a hundred more reasons. SSL is probably the most common.

I have heard that many people are using different C class IP addresses for SEO purposes.

Which is not valid justification for using an IP address, there was also a video from Matt Cutts which debunked this unless you're a certified spammer in which case may you be wiped from all search engines.

A reason for wanting multiple IPs is when you wish to run multiple instances of an application on a server and the ports would clash so assuming you can't change port numbers you bind each instance to a unique IP.

If you want to set up name servers on the server then you need 2 IPs, though I wouldn't recommend you do this.

If you are creating virtual private servers then each will need an IP.

Personally I never used such techniques. But if you search "seo hosting" term in Google, you will get many hosting companies stating that they provide different C Class IP addresses with their hosting.

Wasn't accusing you by the way :)
Yes you do, people cashing in on a fad.

I find it hard to see why anyone would have that number of legitimate sites to need to worry about IP allocations. It then raises the questions of as a host would you really want to host these people and from the other side would you want your precious business site to be hosted along side these people. For the most part there are still many sites sharing each IP just you can scatter your collection of sites about.

I agree with you. It is not necessary to use different C class IP address to get high SERP in search engines. I could see many shared hosting web sites in the top of the search engine result.
