.tel issue [mess]

Domainers out there have already registered hell loads common names (e.g peter.tel, john.tel, george.tel)

When common people will try to registered their name they wont be able to get it and those domainers must be willing to sell it for higher prices.

Few people who I introduced to .tel but they couldnt get their name so they gave up because they would not bother to run after domainers and pay hell alot for some .tel. Isnt it a complete destruction of .tel and people who have invested their hard earned money on .tel will pay the price.

Will telnic be able to sort this out?

    Your opinions please.

.Tel is just a bunch of links so I'm not sure why a 'regular person' would want a .tel
    What would they list?

When people realize that they are hard to monetize you may find them being dropped. The only hope is that .tel starts an adsense type service or allows users to post ads on the side.

I made an attempt to get few people familiar with .tel but the people who i wanted to get .tel they couldnt get their name, n ye thats something minor.

but if some domainers out there have registered whole bunch of names after the landrush period which dont even belong to them then how if someone want their name they wouldnt get it.

even if the domainers find it useless to keep individual names but registered domains are going to take one year minimum to drop.

I agree, Adsense like application is one of the key factors for .tel to success. I think Telnic should and will address this issue.

I see no future whatsoever in people's names for the .TELs. I see much more future in using it for directory services, such as hilton.paris.hotel.tel.

Big problem, though, is that there seems to be a debate whether you can/cannot sell/lease .TEL subdomains. If you look at the TELNIC conditions, IMHO it says that you CANNOT. Thisl unfortunately, will prevent the creation of directories (e.g., for "shops.tel") unless some kind of adsense capability is provided.

Believe me people will give them up cheap. Once they realize it's not what they expected. I've become quite enthralled by it. I look at it as a dynamic sitemap.. I belive with clean and proper SEO methods one could make a killing with these.

Of course I've been playing with mobile marketing for awhile.

.tel doesn't seem to catch on, although I wonder what use is a .tel for if all it does is to list your name and contact.

Telnic does not have what to do in this case. Anyone is free to register whatever they want. If a person wanted to register his / hers name .. it should have done it in the landrush period and so on :)

.Tel is mainly for corporates and companies...

I mean why would you want a .tel when you can have full website with all the history about you in it !

And domain grabbers are everywhere, though I don't like them. But it's business after all !

Let me tell you what I am trying... I'm setting up my .tel to be my awnser for saving money on business cards. as well as generate some sales via affiliate links.

When i'm finished a client will be able to siign up to a service from his or her mobile device right on the spot. i guess it really all depends on where you live. And if you are willing to do some offline marketing in this case.

    You guys are hilarious.

All the same arguments were made about email 10 years ago.

When it becomes mandatory to provide a valid .tel address for everything you do remember these posts.

Banking, Loans, Employment Applications, Employee Records, Etc. - "Please Provide A Valid .TEL Address"

Identification Validation by Multiple Verification Methods including Email AND Voice, etc ....

This will be the Global Standard and the Global "Email, etc." Directory the World has been looking for,
