Google Sites Revenues – Google-owned sites generated revenues of $3.70 billion, or 67% of total revenues, in the first quarter of 2009. This represents a 9% increase over first quarter 2008 revenues of $3.40 billion and a 3% decrease from fourth quarter 2008 revenues of $3.81 billion. Google Network Revenues – Google’s partner sites generated revenues, through AdSense programs, of $1.64 billion, or 30% of total revenues, in the first quarter of 2009. This represents a 3% decrease from first quarter 2008 network revenues of $1.69 billion and a 3% decrease from fourth quarter 2008 network revenues of $1.69 billion. http://investor.google.com/releases/2009Q1_google_earnings.html I think Adsense partner payout is easiest to control. And I saw so many people Adsense account closed/banned... I guess we can figure?
Are we talking about the greatest Ponzi scheme or the Greatest Monopoly to come after Microsoft? I hope Big G would be transparent and give you details if they close or ban your account so people would know exactly what to do and what not to do. Just my 2 Cents JulieV
The decrease would have surely been more than 3 %, had it not been smart pricing (bad pricing) to publishers. No wonder, big g chooses not to be transparent. It helps them partially cover up their falling revenues... Regards, RightMan
Google still rule when it comes to SE's and there still isn't a programme on the contextual front that holds a candle to Adsense. 3% in a recession is nothing. Dean
That is exactly the point. The recession is severe to have just a 3 % drop. This is ample evidence that publishers are being made to pay from their share, to partially make good their falling profits... Regards, RightMan
Google can do as they choose, they own adsense not us, those who cant profit from adsense can move along to other sponsors.... Yet i dont think google would be stupid enough to pay less to advertisers. The more websites that use adsense the more money they make so why take a chance and pay so low were people start looking elsewere to make a profit. By the way my adsense income is higher then ever lately so im not complaining
Yes. I Agree. From reading this and many other related threads (i.e. of people complaining about their recently banned account and publishers reporting an average drop of 20% in income), it is crystal clear: Google has raised its % taken for every click to fight the recession and satisfy the investors. DP would actually be the best place to fight back! What if we gather 10,000 publishers that remove adsense starting from 1st may?
They get enough publisher now. The market is bigger than demand, so they can do whatever they want since they dont mind to loss some publisher. The more important is they earning good money during the economic crisis
What you have to bear in mind is that for the last 10 years Google has been regarded as a high growth company. Moving forward there is bound to be a slowdown in growth. Couple that with a global recession that is hitting almost everything, then it should be no surprise to see a drop from 1.69 billion ( BILLION ) to 1.64 billion in the first 1/4 09. Elephants don't gallop but they are still making an absolute fortune. Several people I know who also happen to be publishers are reporting new highs in terms of earnings. Rather than worry about a modest slowdown you're better off concentrating on getting traffic to your site/s! Just my 2 cents Dean
To be honest with you, Google can really give a F--- about anyone. Do you think they care about banning anyone? Hundreds of Thousands of people use google to make money and if some dont go by Google's rules and TOS then they should suffer the consequences, its all business at the end of the day. Google with still make steady profits regardless.
The chart given in that website posted above is really hard to read. Is there any other website where all these data can be read more in an easier way.
I don't worry about it. I"m making more than I ever have and I have more projects in the works. When Google throws you a curve, you can either jump out of the batters box, or you can hang in there and knock it out of the damn ballpark. Batter Up.
if your earnings are down. then you should work more to increase it..all of us are feeling the effect of the economy crisis. let us hope and pray that things will be back to normal again..
