Backlink Building tools and techniques. (Let's make this thread HUGE!)

My favorite ways to build links:

    1. Fast Blog Finder
    2. Angela V. Edwards' packets
    3. Yahoo Explorer (seeing where other sites get their links from)
    4. Ezine, Squidoo, Hubpages.

What are some of your favorite tools and ways to build backlinks?

Forum signatures, YouTube, Social bookmarking, a blogger blog, a wordpress.com blog, etc. are some other good methods of getting backlinks.

    Forum Signatures are great!

Youtube is a really good way for free traffic, but not backlinks. One of my videos has over 100,000
views and has definitely helped my site generate some revenue in return. But again, Youtube uses
NoFollow on all of their outgoing links.

Social Bookmarking: Good, but remember, not all services are DoFollow.

Blogger Blogs: Usually NoFollow links unless you can get the webmaster to
simply link to you in their blog roll. But again, 99.9% of Blogger blogs comment
    areas are NoFollow.

Wordpress Blogs: After awhile, you'll probably get blocked by P.O.S. Akismet.
Whether you're spam or not... Akismet is annoying and a horrible service! So
as Wordpress Blogs are ok for link building, your URL will probably be eventually
    blocked from commenting.

*Drupal Blogs: These blogs work way better for link building. Drupal users don't
usually have spam protection. And when they do, all you have to do is fill out
a little CAPTCHA and you're good to go.

Oh ... I meant create your own blogger blogs and create your own Wordpress blogs. Just simple basic blogs and point them back to your money site. Google "linkwheel lemonarian" and read his linkwheel ebook.

True, but creating your own blogs takes time. Like they say, "One strong backlink beats out 50,000 weak links"

    Lol or something like that.

So obviously nobody cares about building links here...

Cool. I'll keep the rest of the secrets to myself then...

Free quality backlinks are hard to come by and take a lot of work to find, get and subsequently keep.

Its worth thinkning about buying good quality backlinks on related sites, or subscribing to a paid service like I promote (neurolinker)

But as for free backlinks, which as you say are ofter weak...

    forum posts,
    blogger blogs,
    signatures,
    the various social bookmarking sites,
    twitter,
articles - (which often get scraped and you get backlilnks from the scraper sites),
    press releases (free and paid),
I'll post more if I think oif them

    Press Releases -
    How well do they work?
Do you know of any good "press release" submitter program?
Can you submit the same press release to multiple sites?

Akismet is awesome if you own a Wordpress blog, trust me I know because I've had over 3.5k spam comments picked up by Akismet and they are mostly to do with viagra... It gets annoying sooner or later.

I haven't heard of a press release submitter program.

But you can google free press release sites to get some ideas.

I use pressbox, 1888PressRelease.com, PRLog.Org and PRWeb regularly. And others too, but these approve mine quickly.

Google spiders press release sites very quickly, so once a PR is approved, it appears in Google within hours. Then if others pick the PR up and feature it on their own sites, you get multiple backlinks from multiple sources. One good quality and interesting press release can generate hundreds of backlinks.

But if the press release is not up to a good standard, it won't do you much good. All depends upon your niche/angle etc.

But for free backlinks - I like press releases - try them out :)

ttomp13, try the program in my signature, I made it with the idea in mind of helping to find good links.
The program analyzes the backlinks of your website and of your competitors, then in the end it give a value to each link, it calculates how many times a word is repeated in the text, or the anchors, the titles...then it looks at the pr, age of the link, theme of the page....
The program is not finish and still in beta, but check it out, and let me know if is any good for finding links.

Don't spam and don't use keywords as your name or post things like "awesome I will tweet this". Then you have nothing to worry about.

Exactly! Anyone complaining about Akismet is probably not commenting with value but spamming for backlinks!

For me, to build links :
    - submit to a selection of directories PR3+, in the best category regarding the site;
    - social bookmarking sites;
    - some comments; (no spam).
    - Publish relevant news for visitors ... and G
    It's true ...
