1) How often do the Googlebots search your site? I'm using Statpress for my WordPress blog and they seem to be there every day, multiple times a day. I'm just shcecking to see if this is normal. 2) What is considered good rankings? Ok let me qualify that a little more. I know obviously that page 1, position 1 is the ultimate goal, but that is not achieved overnight. I'm a new blog and without trying, I've landed on the 2nd page of Google for some keywords. It's been 3 months since I started. Is this good? For my main keyword, I'm waaaay down there on page 15, but hey, isn't that still a good sign that I"m headed in the right direction. What's crazy is that I rank on the first page for KW that I wasn't going for (the searches are very low, but still). I'm just trying to get a feel for what is normal and what is not when it comes to Google rankings and keyword placement. Thanks!
Answer : As i said everything is normal, nothing is good or bad , its just human quest to chase google to be on page1 to get more visitors . Please read my answers in blue
I agree with merlin. It is normal for the search engine spiders to visit frequently updated pages several times a day. Less frequently updated sites typically get fewer spider visits. It sounds like you are on the right track with your efforts. 2nd page rankings is a decent start after only 3 months. Of course that would depend on how many people search for that keyword and how competitive the niche is. These days some people are getting away from using rankings as a measure of success. They instead look at other metrics like traffic volume and revenue. Keep up the link building and content writing and you should gradually keep moving up in the rankings. If one link building strategy is not working very well, it often helps to use multiple strategies concurrently.
Thanks for your reply vansterdam. I honestly am a true newbie. I had all-in-one seo installed in the first month an had no idea how to use it. Now I'm going back to edit all of my titles and such. I have a looooong way to go, but I'm optimistic. I just keep reading many different resources and each day I learn something new. Again, thanks for the feedback.
