Here! Here! A voice of reason! I guess we can all say - get back to the basics. SEO your site good. Make sure the spider can crawl your site effectively. Backlink from "On-topic" forums and blogs that doFollow. AND KNOW THAT CONTENT IS KING.

I'm building a Civil War site in my spare time for the simple fact that I know I can beat the top sites in the niche of "Civil War". There is nothing as beautiful as content - and lots of it!

You da man. Probably one of the most useful things I've read on here yet. I think a lot of things need to be made apparent for people. I hate seeing someone asking for advice then someone saying "read post on DP" when it's rather hard and riddled with crap. Yeah it's possible but so much bad advice is given.

isn't it true that google value matured links more than new links? Thus, maybe there's a reason why google use pr (which is up to three months old)???
From my point of view a link from a relevant website wich high page PR is very valuable, much better than 100 links from directories.

yeh links to be spread about your site not just to your root, it doesn't look natural if you only have links going to one page.

In the end jenny if you could tell us where should we do blog commenting to increase our PR, backlinks, traffic, link juice, etc.

Q1. Should we comment on do-follow or no-follow?
Q2. Should we comment on sites which are related to our niche regardless of no-follow link or do-follow?
Q3. Should we don't comment at all?
Q4. Should we only comment on no-follow or only on do-follow?

Wll these are only my personal opinions so please dont take them as fact!
I have a few years experience in link building and SEO and work for a UK based link building specialist who gets great results for his clients.

Q1. Should we comment on do-follow or no-follow?
Dofollow, google wont follow nofollow comments, it may follow some nofollow links but not blog comments

Q2. Should we comment on sites which are related to our niche regardless of no-follow link or do-follow?
Allways keep it on topic and related to your niche regardless of PR
Q3. Should we don't comment at all?
I wouldnt spend to much time on it and utilise your time on other methods.
Q4. Should we only comment on no-follow or only on do-follow?
    Do follow only

Remember if Google looks at your link profile and sees all your links are dofollow they will start to smell a rat and think something isnt right here as it doesnt look natrual

So what should we try other than blog commenting to increase our backlinks, link juice, etc(as stated above).

    We should try:
article submission or forum posting or three way link building or what else?

Ok well im going to be starting a new thread with some backlink techniques but il heres a few tips

Write great content! If youve got some good content on your site that is interesting and useful then people will link to it.
Look for other blogs in your niche and offer to write some content for them in return for a link.
A few relevant link exchanges is fine, read this about getting the easy links
    Look for quality niche directories.
    Lots more to come...

"If you know any other way of accuratly measuring a links worth, please share it with us (It needs to be measurable in the form of numbers)."

to Stormen, look at the program in my sig, it does just that.

What evidence of this do you have? Can you say for sure that a link in a relavent category now carries no benfit?

i wouldnt say it carried no benefit but you have to look at other and better options.
Link building is not easy or a quick task.

Say it takes 30mins to write 1 article
you go to ezine and submit it.
you get 2 links for your effort
Why not go and contact some blogs or sites in your niche and ask them if they would be interested in posting your article. Then you get much better links on a relevant site.
Google knows that people submit to these directorys just for links so they have devalued them a lot

I completely agree, 6 pages of reading, and what now?? Nothing new!

FYI, article building worked great on my site, got PR2 in 3 months (the only link building task i did)

    Dear Jen,

Link building have always been and it will be evergreen of SEO and Internet Marketing.

When you are saying that it is not working, prove it somehow!

If you can not prove it, suggest alternative method that is working!

Suggestion - sit for few hours on your chair and submit your websites to a thousands of link directories, articles directories, blogs or whatever, wait a month and you will see results!

I don't want to be offensive, but you don't know what you are talking about!

I have gotten page one with 3 way links from mostly PR0-1 sites and hardly anything else in recent times.

I once got a PR5 with a few links and one PR6 link but the site did not do very well and never made the top 50 in G.

irrelevant high PR links are nowhere near as powerful as what they used to be. Not to mention, if you get them for a new site, it looks unnatural.

looks like everyone is a GURU here :p

i can rank a site by just on page seo and submitting it in only directories
    anyone wanna bet :D

I can rank a site by just having Irrelevant links
    anyone wanna bet :D

PR is still important..If its not...people won't use NO FOLLOW ...i am not saying it will help you in ranking..but there is something called TRUST FACTOR and PR has become a factor of user trust and obviously Google do give some importance to the PR factor .And if you think PR isn't important...let me give you a very related link on unranked indexed page..or a irrelevant page with 5 PR ..which one will you buy :)

i am not saying you are wrong..you may be right..but different people has different results :)
