Hi, im getting into blog flipping - and id just like to ask a question.

Im starting all my blogs from scratch. So by the time ive bought domain, logo, modifications, content how much % should i add on?

So say i spent $100 on getting the blog up, whats the going % to add on top of that to sell? For example do i sell at 200% therfore me selling it for $200?

I hope you understand - thanks.

I think the price depends on the niche and individual buyers. Also, pagerank is very important. A blog with PR7 is worth way more than a blog with PR3.

Also, i don't think you will need to invest $100 to get a blog up. Get some cheap hosing and a $7.99 domain from godaddy. Design the logo yourself. It doesn't have to be too attractive. Or just get some newbie to do it for you for less than $15. You can get lots of free HQ themes for WP. That's it!

I'll explain more. Basically i have a developer theme from WooThemes meaning i have a premium theme. So im looking to make the blog as appealing as possible.

    My cost predictions:

    Domain: $7.69
    Content: $30
    Background design modification: $25
    Logo: $35
    Code mods: $10

Thats like $107, but the blog will be so appealing and look very nice.

What do you think? 300% so i resell for $323?

I think it depends who you are trying to sell to and where you are selling them at.

    $323?

    For what?

Have you spent $200 of your time setting it up? At $10 an hour, that would mean you spent 2 full days and a bit setting up the thing!

I really think you're overpricing what your doing. Take a look at the sites for sale here. Blogs (new blogs with a few posts) sell for anything from 20-100$. You want $300+ for basically putting a premium theme on it and creating (in your mind) something special. For anyone buying, the costs are the same if they do it themsleves. So somebody can create your blog for :

    Domain: $7.69
    Content: $30
    Background design modification: $25
    Logo: $35
    Code mods: $10

How long will this take them? Lets say their kinda slow and new to the whole thing and they spend a day at it. Thats 100$. ( 8 hours work at 10$ an hour). Or even let them pay somebody for 8 hours work. Think they'll spend 200$ on someone to set this up for them as your asking them to do?

IMO you're overvaluing what your offering. Why will someone pay you $100 ($300 -$200) as pure profit for - well, for nothing really?

No, i will be putting in alot of my own time getting traffic/income from the sites. Thats what blog flipping is right?

Il get PR, etc then sell.
Not just set the site up and sell straight away...? :p

I wouldn't bother with the PR unless you're looking for an amazing return as it'll take longer (time which you could have spent making more blogs ;)). I usually build backlinks then use several PR predictors to give a rough estmate, then I'll say this in the sales bit. Before anyone says, I know that these aren't 100% accurate, and I do make that info known in my sales.

Either way, you're almost definately going to make a profit, so give it a try and see for yourself? ;)

The price is determine by the market force not the seller.
If the market force think that the fair value of your site is $100 then you cannot sell it at $200.
And i notice that you have wrong concept about fliping.
By fliping is mean you buy the establish blog then optimize the blog and then resale it at higher value.

You're going about this ass-backwards. Have you ever wondered why rich people are always trying to beat you down on your price even though they can obviously afford to pay what you want ?

First, you determine what the going rate for a product is. Then, you try to produce it at the lowest cost possible.

If you "add a % on top" like you want, you're going to end up getting stuck with something that costs more than it's worth eventually.
