What has worked well for me is to use one image 728x90 ad above a 728x90 text ad. Or put a 728x90 text ad below your header which is an image.

what you say about that Critters? You placed pics of pigs which is the same theme as ur site. So is this ok or not?

If all pics are allowed , then here is a very nice tool made by adsense guru SHOEMONEY:

I tried implementing a similar concept, but with using just color to draw attention to the ads. I haven't noticed a huge jump yet so I'm thinking the grey background may be making them look too much like banner ads. Let me know what you think about how I could improve upon this concept.

That's a nifty tool, but if you just grab other people's images without permission then you'd be violating their copyrights.

It's not hard to create images on your own. If you like what someone else has done, grab your digital camera and do something similar. A good number of the images I've used were created using objects I found right here in my humble office space; I've made others from shots taken from e.g. a stroll in my local park. I've also purchased a few in the past, but only when I was feeling lazy :D

    As always, IMO.

Is there any official statement from Google about images next to AdSense Ads?

I would be worried about this. To me all these sites with lined up images beside/above/below adsense ads are the same as not using a divider to differentiate between content and ads. Even if you stick a line between the images and the ads, visually the ads match exactly to the image.. which will trick a lot of people into thinking they are clicking something that relates to the image (and not an external ad), hence increasing clicks. In spirit doesn't this practice go against google TOS?

Actually, I got this idea from this thread. My idea is using CSS instead table. I got email from Google and they said It's OK.

Google is now testing image placement next to the ads AND IN THE SAME AD BOX. So think they loved the idea :) . Critters , are you working for the adsense team now? lol

Wow, just implemented ads to one of the sections of my site. http://www.vgescape.com/features/89/ps3-release-date is one of my examples of it on a content page.

I added a border to the left side ad. I need some advice DP. Would it be better to make it 2 images or keep it at 3? I wanted to try to unrelate the images to the ads as much as possible while still making them be on the same topic.

I don't want to get banned for this :)

    ---

After implementing them, in the next hour I got 10 clicks. My normal day for that site is only about 30 clicks!

Averaging 25% CTR should be very profitable. Good Job.
