Freak online tracked me and is threatening me..

I'm not sure what to do, so please let me know. I'm 15, by the way..

I don't know if it's serious enough to call the police or not, but some nut from Panama has tracked me down and feeds me a new piece of my personal information all the time. He is a past client of mine who I refunded and he also threatened to take me to court and pretended to submit a claim with my local courts. He keeps saying he's going to come to my house and teach me some manners (though I've never done anything to the guy) and also some threats against my family and other instances where he has mentioned harming me in one way or another.. He says that I'm an ugly geek living in my mom's basement. Whoa. I'm so offended.

I'm a bit frightened and I feel that my life is in danger (just being honest) ... what can I do (legally, lol) to make sure this guy doesn't come to my house and decapitate me? (exaggeration)

    His fake lawsuit here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1277650

Any legal mind out there or licensed professionals who are able to take this freak down please PM me I have all of his information as well.. he's already posted mine around the internet, I'm sure..

Have you talked to your parents about it? They should know what's going on in case he starts to call your house (possible) or shows up (unlikely). It's probably not a bad idea to file a police report about the harassment and threats, just so it's on record. They should also be able to advise you on whether any other action should be taken. They may also be able to contact the police in his hometown, assuming you know where that is.

While it probably isn't likely he'd come after you in person, or spend the money to file a court claim, it's possible he does have contact with someone (through a forum, for example) who lives close enough to harass you in person. If you've given the local cops a heads up about the threats, I think they would be more likely to respond quickly to an incident.

Stop communicating with idiots. Why do you feed into it?

You say he "feeds me a new piece of my personal information all the time." That indicates you are continuing to speak with him over a period of time. Do not reply, do not acknowledge. He will get bored talking to himself.

You seem to be engaging this person and for what, I have no idea. Stop communicating to him in any fashion. Don't tell him you are going to stop talking, just fucking stop talking to this idiot.

You refunded his money, nothing much more can be done.

I had a similar case a few years ago. Someone got my e-mail address and started contacting me, making threats etc...

If he did file a lawsuit (which he won't). You really think he would do that? All you would have to do is show him the childish threats he made, then look who will be the guy in trouble. ;)

They will threaten you because he knows your age. If you just ignore him, no matter what he says Don't reply. He's a 'cyber-noob' who just wants attention :D. Leave it and he will eventually go away.

    Hope that helped.

Your case is serious, but why is that "lol" appearing on some of your posts.? It makes the story unreliable..

How does it make it un-reliable? I would suggest he is using 'lol' because he is nervous about the situation?

There are some very strong and specific laws regarding kids and the internet in the U.S., and that is in cooperation with a ton of nations around the world. I'm not sure if Panama is one of them, but it seems that it would be since Noriega's drug trafficking was squashed.
If that is a cooperative nation and you really want to screw the guy, report his threats to the FBI.
You are 15 and the would really mess up his world if Panama is a responsible, stable law abiding nation.

Threatening someone with harm is a crime (in the U.S.), and it's a bigger crime when it's an adult vs. a kid. Cyberstalking is punishable.

You really should tell your folks about this...never keep stuff like this from them as I am sure they would want to know, since it affects them too.

I really wouldn't worry about him coming up from Panama, I have had people that were only a few states away threaten me from the Politics forum right here on DP, but, everyone's a big man online...all talk.

This is a valuable lesson though. Especially considering your age and that you live at home, never use your home address in your "who is" information. Get a P.O. Box.

You will feel better when you tell your folks, don't try and handle this by yourself. That's why God gave us parents. To help, guide, teach and protect while we learn how to make it on our own. It's more mature to tell them than not to.

    Hey guys,

Alright I told them, we're going to file a police report just to be on the safe side. They said it's nothing but we're going to file just so it's on record (as you said before). Yeah, it probably is all talk, and usually I would simply ignore situations like this. Every time I attempt to block him or shut him out, though, he finds another (more personal) way of contacting me. His threats are constant and undying but he's probably just a lonely old cyberbully looking for a cheap thrill.

I use "lol" in my posts, even the most serious ones, because I don't like things seeming TOO serious. I don't want the guy to read this thread and get a kick out of it because he thinks I'm over here shaking in my socks. On top of that, you'll never have any chat with me where "lol" doesn't come up at least once...

    For example:
    Regards,
    Aaron :)

    You did the right thing

you may want to keep a record of when he contacts you (save email and such) just in case you need to take this guy to court

I also hope you have a record of the fact that you gave the guy a refund. your age should help you in this case but i think proof you gave the guy his money back would nail your case against this guy shut
