Four textual ads vs. 1 picture ad

I use the 4-ad Google skyscraper ad on my site. Most of the time the ads are relevant to the subject of the site, but more and more I'm seeing totally irrelevant single ads for such as VOLVA that takes up the same space as the 4-ads. I've also seen these very irrelevant large ads for ORICK vacuums. How does a single ad for VOLVA or ORICK compare to having 4 single ads relevant to the subject of the site? Should I filter out the photo ads?

The single ads are mostly site-specific ads. Someone has selected your site to buy CPM impressions. Check your site-targeted stats under "Advance Reports" in your Adsense CP.

I found that one particular ad was being shown most of the time ... an image ad... i changed the ad code from text/image to text only.. i have found that text ads (4) work better than image ads. On pages where I am ok with image ads.. I have screened out the ads which are not at all appealing to my site's users. Some of the advertisers have big budgets :) and they tend to appear most of the time. I think google should rotate the ads (image once specially) more .. maybe show once to a user...

Google doesn't care about your site or its content. They only care about who can pay them the most, and that's how they'll decide which ads get shown on your site.

My site is Toiletology 101 < www.toiletology.com/toc.shtml > . This is a site exclusively devoted to toilet repairs and water conservation. It has absolutely nothing to do with cars in general or foreign cars in particular, but I can't get rid of ads for Volvo. Anyone looking for help to repair a toilet is not going to be interested in Volvo cars. The ads are just annoying clutter and distractions to viewers. I also suspect the ads have negatively impacted my Adsense commissions.

This is very frustrating. I have used the "competitive filter" without success, and I have checked that I wanted "text only" ads. Still I get one and sometimes two of these ugly picture ads on my pages. And it is not that there are not plumbing related ads available.

For awhile it was those awful Orick Vacuum ads that plagued me, now it's just the Volvo ads.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I don't think this is the problem. I just counted 20 uses of the word "toilet" on the "How a Toilet Works" page and still there is a big wide ad for "window shutters" at the bottom of the page rather than the four small text ads that I'd like to have. As far as content goes, this was a very long page that I divided into five pages when I was advised that I should not force visitors to scroll too far down the page to read. Was that bad advise?

I think need to regenerate all of your Adsense code blocks to be "text only". Only then will you irradicate all of the image ads from your site. The "text only" option in the Adsense Account settings is overriden by settings in the invidual ad blocks.
