The usual shift+del habit had me today. I deleted most of my files and folders . I do know of system restore but I never created a system restore point, so I can't do that .:-<

Is there anything I can do to recover this blunder? I heard of some softwares, can anyway quote a few?

Yeah.. This habit also had bite me a couple of times. I use this software : http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1 to recover my files, if I accidentally delete it. The software is free.

Same here. I always use Shift+Delete . You can always recover them. Use a free or paid recovery software.

There are many ways you can try to recover lost data.

    Check this tool: DiskDigger

Wow awesome, that was a neat tool :)

    Recuva is another great freebie!

when you delete something from your disk with shift + del it still stays on your disk until something else is overwritten with it, ofc. you cant know when will it be overwritten because it can be immediately when you save something new or it can be overwritten with the last few MB of your disk. But, if you do data recovery immedately after being deleted, you are pretty safe and should recover all of the data. And the funny thing is that it is much hard to recover the data if you have deleted it and emptied it from the recycle bin, so you were quite lucky :p.
