how exactly do i block them? im trying to read up on geo-ip but it all seems a bit hard. Im trying to get it to work with Phproxy
@proxywhereabouts, Are you forcing chinese users to fillup cpalead surveys before they can use your website?
For how long did you check these topsites? Part of them are offline. Another ones are parked. The ones that work are crappy aardvark topsites.
@ Bs2008 i can help you install your geoip redirection/blocker if you send all the traffic to webevader.org
Who is your host? Ask them to install mod_geoip. Then, go to maxmind site and copy the code that you need to paste in your htaccess. Just edit it a bit and you're done. hehe..when I got them, I send them to another site.
thanks for the replies, so far im trying http://www.xrvel.com/rw/programming/country-ip-blocking/comment-page-1#comment-775 but everytime i enter the code in the index file from that site i get a load of errors gonna keep trying
Hi, It should be on first line on your index.php. Here are some questions for you. 1. Have you downloaded geoip package? 2. Put them on “/geoip-directory/†directory. 3. What kind of error message do you get?
This is one hell of a thread. Have to make my contribution =] I am thinking of starting a proxy shortly.
Thanks for the reply, So far i've only downloaded the Main database file (GeoIP.dat) and the geoip.ic file. I've put these int he geoip-directory file ive made. Ive downloaded the 2 files above and put them in the directory, and then put the little code in the index, after i put it on line 1 like you said, i didn't get any errors but the code was actually veiwed on the page, and it didn't block the countries though. Im not to sure on the geoip package you mean. Thanks for the help
submit to proxy.org , tech-faq.com , osyt.com also u should look in freebies section as new proxy list owners offer listing without backlinks for the proxy sites
Yes but the chances is low. Last time i hire some company to do research for me and the result is shocking. More than 90% of the Google and Yahoo group member is proxy owner.
It's better if you pay 5+ for proxy hosting since it must be reliable. Also the chance of overselling is lower so you get quality hosting and you get returning visitors since you've provided them good and speedy service.
It is good you want to play safe by starting small and I approve that. But, proxy isn't like wordpress where with proxies, you WILL get 1000s of visitors coming your way instantly* and when this come, and you have small hosting, you will later realize how much you are losing**. *depend on your promotion strategy **hosting can't afford sudden spike in traffic. Most small cheap host limit their resources and yet oversells.
