    Hi DP-ers,

My website has been online since February 2009. It's on the 2nd page of Google for a month now. It was on 13th/14th place for 2 weeks, now for another 2 weeks on 11th place to be exact.

Page 1 is really close now, but what can I do to break through? It's like my website stays on the same position for some time before it moves up again.

I did on-page optimization and I'm continuously building backlinks through forum and blog posting, directory submission, article submission and social networking.

If you doing all other things. on site.forum and blog posting, directory submission, article submission and social networking.

    Then

Do only few links on authority sites. and submit few Press Releases.

    Double check keyword density.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing, just be patient, its a new site and if you try and push it too hard the site will get slapped with a penalty and you will see it drop down in the search engine positioning.

You're right. It can be very tempting to create as many backlinks at one time.

Take one step at a time, two months is no time. There's no way to usurp the first page at once and forever :)

It sounds like you're doing everything right, ad gradually moving up the page. Just keep doing what you're doing, and see where the site ranks in another month.

Patience is a virtue my friend:) It seems like your on the right track, for now, just continue building quality links and wait for the next update. As said above, it is a step by step process. Well, to add up, you better try squidoo lenses for more links with do follow attributes.

It all depends on how much difference is between you and the next in rank : )) you never know, the one in front is just putting in as much work as you are - then you will probably never going to overtake him!

I can't believe I got my youtube video ranked #10 on google for search terms that have 6.5 million sites attached to it. I did using digg in about 2 hours time.

Thanks guys, I'll try to be more patient :p

My competitors aren't very active. The #1 added his last article on February 12. I think I should be able to do better :D

JessieJames, I'll create a Squidoo account, thanks.

Fasu, Youtube videos rank very well I think. I have 6 Youtube videos above me  So to be honest, there are only 4 websites/blogs above me.

Link exchanges or cross linking cancel each other out! - Not very effective!. You must have one way links pointing to your website to build solid link popularity. Link popularity building also improves ranking and of course PR in Google.
