3-4 members leave my forum for various reasons every few weeks. They usally come back in a few months. Best one was last year when a guy left after making a huge fuss about members, moderators and other crap. He came back this spring after a whole year and tried to play it off as if nothing happend...

My guess is that this guy will be back.

Shawn, your staff is a joke in many respects sometimes. Between the inside club mentality, rep squads and the like, this place is very unprofessional at times.

I've seen your form answers to posts like this regarding other's sentiments with the coop and I think you are letting things go rather then fix it. You blame those that are shut out by the childish behavior, red rep gangs and just plain mean sprited posting. You seem to say, that's the way it is, tough, it's to much effort to change.

That's sad, because I see more and more posts on more on more places that speak of the respect you are losing by the hands of the staff that represents you and the stupid fucking rep system.

But hey, just like the coop, you'll fix it, right? Sorry, but that was rhetorical. I don't think you care. The train don't need a driver anymore and you're riding it out. :/

I'm a sucka for the underdog. And of course this is another one of those going against the club debates which are always lose lose.

But I agree with the guy that there is alot of tact missing from alot of actions around here of late. If Shawn likes it and wants that more power to him.

I know my post count has suffered as a result. But hey, who the hell misses me anyway? :p

Cmon man..I miss a lot of people here (including you depite our rocky start many years ago)...This forum has always had the ability to alienate people because it is so unmoderated. Thats the price you pay though to have a truly open forum that is very busy.

Hell, I have taken two "breaks" that lasted months but the truth is, there is something about a forum where you can post your thoughts as they come to you. Most newbies are welcomed, I don't think pointing to the few people that basically crap on this forum and get a hard time shows this isn't a welcoming environment.

I also know modding here is damn difficult because for every Spam you see there are 50 more that were taken care of within seconds. The DP way is to be loose with moderation and let things work themselves out. You can't fault the Mods if you don't agree.

Anyway, Rectangleman was appreciated here but he seemed to have a bee in his bonnet the last couple of weeks (asking for infractions, etc) so he made his choice.

Agreed, asking for infractions, crying for red reps, bumping old threads, etc contributed to his departure!! End the end we are to blame for.

I strongly disagree there... I think the staff does a phenomenal job actually. The best part about the staff I have now is they don't need to go around telling everyone, "Look what I did..." Instead things just get done. I also really don't think there is an inside mentality with the staff... most people couldn't even tell you who the staff is because they don't feel the need to make it blatantly obvious, "Hey, I'm a staff member". As far as rep squads, I can guarantee the staff is not part of some secret "rep squad".

If you see something you don't like, the best option is to use the "Report A Post" option. There has been one post you have reported in the last 60 days, and appropriate action was taken 22 minutes after you reported it (entire thread was deleted). If you are expecting the staff to go and read every single post before you do and clean out every possible thing, that's not a practicality unfortunately. The best we can hope for is swift action taken for anything that anyone reports (which the staff is exceedingly good at).

To be honest, that's fine with me. I've never (personally) heard of anyone complaining about my staff at any other places (feel free to post a URL), but to be honest it comes down to the bigger picture if you want to continue to grow. It's impossible to make everyone happy with everything. I personally can't think of a way the staff could do a better job than what they are already doing.

Hardly... The "train" is stronger and faster than it's ever been... Based on the overall stats, things seem to be fine to be honest...

Am I missing something, after my 2500 some post I have never had an issue with these forums. I have reported a few posts and immediate action was taken, even had a few mods PM me thanking me for the info.

As far as the rep's go, dont really care. I do have a bunch of reds of people calling me an a55hole and such, but they are most likely right.

What is with all the crying lately? Maybe fryman has a pic for us...

My sentiments have come from past experiences. Maybe a few months ago. But for the most part, rather then complain, I stopped participating. So I have no idea if the aspect of the moderators attitute witha title changed or not. Don't care anymore. I don't want to debate it. I posted for exactly the reasons I said, I like the supporting underdog position even when it's not popular but I agree with it. So I voiced support. That being said, there is plenty being said without my help. So I'll leave it at that.

I have no complaints about my ride on the train. But I think there has been some ground lost and a poor reaction to that. You and Joe talked about it the other night. I was too damn tired to get involved deeply. But with that and the rep crap and the infighting of members, it's sometimes an effort to bother reading here despite the level of benefit from that reading.

When I see the coop links at the bottom of this forum, that will tell me you REALLY believe in the strenght of the train Shawn.

Ad network? I thought we were talking about this forum to be honest. The ad network was never run much on Digital Point (even from day 1). Not because I didn't "believe" in it, but mainly because I didn't have anything to advertise. Even with the little weight I've had, I have a hard time thinking of things to advertise, and I end up just advertising for people who never asked me to and I don't know just to fill the spot. I also have never used AdWords to advertise digitalpoint.com, it certainly doesn't mean I don't think AdWords is a viable advertising medium.
