They are actually commonly called Large Mouth Bass, but are also known as Black Bass, Green Bass, Bigmouth, Bucketmouth, Black Bass.

I wish i had a picture of the one that got away, it had a truly large mouth. Matter of fact when i hooked it all i saw was his huge mouth shaking left and right, just over the top of the water then..my lure flew right back into my shirt as the fish shook it loose and continued on with his hunt for food.
