About directories and submission

    Hi all,
I have some questions about directory submission.
There are 1000's of directories out there, and there are programs like fast directory submitter that cost around 15$ per website for semi-automatic submission to their directory list.
On the other hand, there are people offering to submit one website for the same amount of directories that fast-directory-submitter offers for less than 15$...
So why should i pay for the product, and enter all the captchas myself, if someone will do all the work for less money?
Are the paid submissions less good in any way? less significant (or less PR) directories? anything i'm missing here? No reason to buy those software and submit myself?

    Thanks.

It all depends on if you have the time and the skill to do it yourself. DP has a lot of experienced directory submission service providers who know how to write good and unique titles and description for sites. I don't think it means they're going to submit your site to less PR directories, if PR is what you're interested in. These people help site owners to concentrate on their businesses while they do the link building.

well most of the offerings I see don't include the writing of the titles or desc, just submission...
I know that lots of those paid submissions submit to directories that all look copy/paste of one another, but i don't see them posting to more "quality" directories such as:
    http://www.lii.org/pub/htdocs/home.htm 8
    http://www.femina.com 7
    http://www.gogreece.com 7
    http://www.sacentral.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm 7
    http://www.worldhot.com/ 7
    http://www.123india.com/ 7
    http://www.elib.org/ 7
    http://www.ezilon.com/ 6
    http://www.epooch.com/ 6
    http://www.christiansunite.com/ 6
    http://www.toronto1.biz/ 6
    http://www.canadianeh.com 6
    http://www.aardvark.co.za 6
    http://www.nzs.com/ 6
    http://www.aigam.com 6

i guess they just have some script that can submit to those "copy/paste" directories... hence their submission is less valuable?

Then do it yourself or pass this list of directories to the person who will be doing the job.

Well most cases in either instance you are basically submitting 3 or 4 duplicated descriptions and titles to a thousand or so unpromoted free directories which are already filled up with massive amounts of duplicated titiles and desciptions, offering nothing in the way of features or other unique content. Those thousand or so free directories do not generate any revenue for the owner so they are in most cases neglected as far as actual editing or they just approve every spam submission that comes along without review or editing.

So in either of the scenarios you describe you can expect to get what your paying for - pay nothing and get nothing in return..... Over half of them will never approve your submitted site and half of those which do will be offline in 6 months. Any which actually do get approved will just be sitting on a site filled with duplicate content that search engines ignore.

Your best option if you want quality listings which might actually get reviewed, edited and possibly even approved  is to submit to quality pay for review directories. Well that is if your site is quality.

I always promote the use of free directories as well as paid but even i feel disapointed at the number of free directories with 10, 20, 30, 40k plus pending submissions, so you may want to avoid those ones, regardless of your method of either doing it yourself, using submission software or paying for a service to thousands of directories.

Either way, $15 isn't a lot, personally id not expect much from spending $15, about £10 in my money.

Are you sure about these directories being quality free directories? Have you opened them even once? Have you submitted to them (and got accepted)?

There are lot of submitters on the forum that will submit to your list of directories manually.

Why you need a software to submit to thousands of directories? Infact you dont need to submit your site to so many directories which dont have any quality. Google says in webmaster tools to get your site linked to high quality sites and directories like I can name a few directories which have been maintain its pr since last 4-5 years and more like http://di.yahoo.com, http://www.business.com , http://botw.org, http://www.mastbusiness.com , http://www.ezilon.com , http://www.dmoz.org, etc.

Just if you can have a link from above 2-3 directories that is enough to acquire pr4-pr5 within 6 months.
