I recently purchased a domain through name.com. Turns outthe name has been owned before. It's got about 4k in links and is PR 3...

What is the proper way to funnel it's traffic.. Any tips? How do i preserve it's saturation?

Are you getting any traffic currently? Otherwise it would be a pointed domain with unreal PR. Create a catch all page(any traffic to the domain shows the same page) and put Google Analytics on it. Analyse the traffic and proceed to next step.

A PR3 isn't considered high and doesn't mean traffic. If the site is receiving good traffic, then you could consider developing the site to fit with the former usage. I recently registered a domain that I planned to develop and it turned out that it also had former backlinks and received a PR4 with the last update (I put some content on the site, but haven't done any link building or promotion). The traffic it is generating based on those links is almost nil - about 4 visitors a day.

at least you know for sure that your website will not be touched by the "sandbox" issue :)

The sandbox has nothing to do with PR, and if this was a newly registered domain (even though it was registered at some point previously) it will certainly be subject to the sandbox.

    Hi Seanzy,
You can do any thing you want, Pick up a niche (Else the domain have a designated niche) and start working on it as a new project.

The baclinks plus pagerank 3 is nice but wont affect that much if you wont do your own promotional work :)

I'm in the process of doing this myself. Had a client that no longer wanted their site. It's PR4, they switched domain names and went elsewhere to host, part of a national initiative. Site receives about 300-500 visitors a day, and I'm in the process of building a new site there now! :)

Why don't you check how the site was before you bought it? you can make the site as it was before, park it or sell it :)
