So i just did some seo and was wondering about how long does it take for google to update links on average for a site? Do the first links start arriving a month later? a week later or? What are your experiences on this? I think it has been a week and still i did not see any results... Oh and also, how many links do you think i should do per day? I know i better start at a constant rate and i don't want to spam just in a mood for seo now Thanks
Did you installed a xml sitemap and added it to webmaster tool? you can always check on yahoo if the links are picked up
Depends on how regularly Google crawls the site the links are on. For example, if you're doing lots of directory submissions, it's worth checking that the page you're submitting to is actually indexed itself. For a newish bog-standard off-the-shelf directory script sort of thing, don't assume that it necessarily is.
It really depends on the individual link you get - inner page links will take longer to get crawled/spidered - especially if PR0 so it could take a few weeks. Higher PR homepage located links from well trusted sites that are crawled regularly may appear in your backlink profile in a few days.
Oh, thanks, i guess i was submitting a lot to a low level dirs and pages... so i also am curious... if google sees them all at once by some strange coincidence ( it just happens to crawl them all at once ) will i be penalized because of too many links at once =\ really don't think this should happen but just wanna ask u guys as you probably have experience and i am still a noob Thanks a lot for the replies
Google is regularly crawling the web, refreshing its index of links and web pages. Some linking resources may get updated more quickly than others.
u mean ur site URL... for indexing all th epages will take long time.. since 7 months my site is online.. but only little links are updated.. doing well in SEO...
A couple of points here 1) Google runs on a cache not live that is the info that you are looking at is 2 weeks old at best 2) it depends how many links are pointing at the site that the link is on put some links to that site and it will be found a lot quicker blogs and constantly changing sites are best for google to find your link on the site. the part of the site map is good information as well
no exact time when google will pick up your link. and also you better check your link in yahoo links cause google rarely appearing your link when you check using link:url If you ask how many link have to build in a day? For me, I build as much as I can do as a human alexjo
I think it is ok to see a steady flow of links to a new site - i doubt you will be penalised unless you have used auto submit software to add links to hundreds of sites all at once. Also, try to get a range of PR and link types (in content, directories, sitewide, homepage only, inner pages) and vary the anchor text of the link so it looks more natural.
In google webmater tools the links for one of my websites normally updates every 2 weeks, but in yahoo siteexplorer every 2 days
I practically did not do any blog posting or commenting, but have written some articles for the future which i might post soon on some blog, the only problem is that those links do not seem permanent, as some of them might be archived so should i try to find some blogs that allow google to look trough the archives as well.. or maybe something similar... Anyways will try lots of different things and will try to vary in everything so that i get better results no i mean for the outer sites that link to my page but i realize now that it is all variable and wondering will the ranking increase automatically, because i have submitted a lot and was on a pause posting links for 2 or 3 days since i was scared if google will penalize me... Hmm do you think it is okay to do like 50 links per day? And what if one month i am too busy so i cant do 50 per day and i do 10 per day instead? Would that be a sign to google to penalize me? ( some news blogs get a lot of links on forums at once depending on the time when they are posted ) so just was wondering how does google handle that Thanks a lot everyone
