    Travel Directory:
    18 months old
    PR5 Home Page
    Up to PR5 internal pages
    FREE (with recip) :D

Just wanted to give you an example, that's all! However, I do agree with the others. I can also confirm that Mystikmedia works very hard (and spend money) on advertising and promoting his websites. He has advertising on my websites as well. I will probably consider the featured listings myself in a few weeks time as well.

Yes,I think the owner should thank me.:)

But from this thread I know that the price of a directory is based on PR. So I will imporve the PR of my directory.
So far the pr of my directory is 0,but I'm sure it will at least 5 after next updated

BTW : what is the reasonable price for the directory with PR 6
    Thank you

It really depends on what the PR of the page where your link is placed is. Ex: I will not get a listing on a PR6 directory where my category page has PR1 or worse, not indexed by Google. However, if it's something like a PR4 internal page then I would probably pay around $10-$15 per annum or $35 for a permanent link.

So you're telling me that my PR 5 directory with PR 3 inner pages and the additional 3 links on 3 seperate domains and IPs (in essence 4 total links) is too cheap at $5 for a lifetime link? ;)

edit: BTW, Alive is only one month younger than mine, but he has done an incredible job of gaining back links. It just goes to show what spending a littel money can do for your PR. I am humbled.

I can't see much value in a listing in any directory when the category pages are in the Supplemental index or not cached.

when you buy listings in a directory you think on long term.
I sell listings too and not all my pages are cached or have PR. But, in the future all of them will be and will have a higher PR value. So when you purchase a permanent link this will bring you value in time.
I think some people are just envious and that's why they try to object that price is not fair. The price is ok and if you think on long term then you will realize that it's pretty cheap actually. Chris puts so much effort in his sites, I really admire him for that and I wish I could have the strength and devotion that he has.
Good luck, Chris! Keep on doing the great work! After only 9 months you made a fabulous directory.

Depending on the age of the directory, I'm not willing to make an "investment" if the pages are in the Supplemental index or if there is no cached version of the pages. It's both a waste of time and money.

    Just call it personal preference.

Recently I have seen a directory that has hundreds of thousands incoming links, and it has also high PR links, but is only PR4 or what, while in the past I think it was PR6 or 7. A mystery.
Anyway, Google is more and more on the watch for duplicate content and general directories serving only as link-farms.

Just a personal guess .. I think Chris invested several thousand dollars until this day in Alive (links), and he regularly (monthly) spends at least a few thousand more..

Heck .. I think i didn't saw more than a few websites from DP members, that didn't had a link towards Alive .. And all of you know that.

I would expect Alive to reach at least a PR7 ..

THis update released PR only to websites that had none before. Or at least this is the case for the majority of us.

Dude, we just said the PR prediction tools don't work. Never has one been accurate..

Alive directory will be PR7 no doubt, and I think it has a chance for a PR8. It's got more backlinks than business.com (PR7), search engine watch (PR8), overture.com (PR8), alexa.com (PR8)... you get the point.
