Which shall I choose? I have heard good things about both of these, but I do not know which one to choose. They are both free, so the price is not a problem. Google has a bigger name. Should I choose Google Analytics?
Use both. But if you have to chose, then Analytics is better for bigger sites, SC for smaller ones. That's because I noticed some glitches (not often though) in Statcounter that cause the unique visitor count to bloat. One visitor viewing multiple pages is sometimes counted as several UVs. I like Statcounter though because it's real-time, and you can see your visitors' IP address. You can also create several projects for one website. For example, I have a project for a single webpage (redirect), used to count the number of affiliate clicks. Very useful!
I agree with Glottis that I like the realtime reporting of statcounter, also you can see how people move around a site, how they go from page to page. And he's right - you can use both.
I use both. But I pay the $29 a month for the StatCounter option to display the most recent 25K visits, not just the very small amount you get with the free option. Google, of course, is free and is good.
Well, I suggest use it both. G Analytics as your primary tool for checking visitors and Statcounter as your alternative.
If you want real time stats then statcounter is best, but it is limited to log size of 500 only under free mode, whereas google analytics is free but you cannot have realtime stats with it.
I use Analytics as well as whos.amung.us. I have never tried SC so I can't give an opinion of it. Analytics is good enough for me, but I am considering upgrading to the payed version of whos.amung.us... not sure yet. Cheers James
It will bloat if you choose to include your own visits to your site. Change the settings and all will be good. SC is far better IMO.
