When Do You Decide That's A Non-Performing Keyword?

I've been testing keywords for a while. But when do you decide to drop a non-performing keyword? 100 clicks?

I'm testing around 200 keywords per niche. So if only 5 keywords convert, then I'll lose money on 195keywords?

So my question is, how long do you test your keywords before you decide that's a non-performing one?

surely, you can drop the keyword after 100 clicks even i would say don't wait for 100 clicks.

Just check your reports that adwords generate and then decide you can check which ad is showing for which keywords. You will also find some new keywords there for which you ad is being shown.

You need to monitor your campaign continously, change keywords that are not perforrming and only costing your money, make new ad groups for theme related keywords. If you are tracking your conversions, then you should get to know which keywords to keep and what to delete.

    Hi candy_lim01

It's the main "secret" to Adwords. You must measure clicks and conversions to a keyword level. This way you can just keep lowering bids on non-profitable keywords until you are either in profit or getting zero impressions or clicks.

I believe this is where automated software comes in to do the number crunching for you

Thanks for the advise. You've mentioned automated software. I'm using Adwords Editor currently. You have any good s/w to recommend?

Another question. I have a campaign that has all keywords with QS1. All of them(about 200)! I used google keyword tool to shortlist the keywords from the website and I believed they're relevant. So what's wrong with it? Anyone experiencing this problem as well?

    Thanks!

When all or most of your keywords go to QS 1 you've been Google slapped. The only way I've ever recovered was upping bids.

The thing is any ads not show, I'll just up the bids and it'll come out.
But I don't know when to del a keyword from my list. I'm worried that after 10 clicks, no sales, but the 11th click may be a potential sale.

That's why till now, I have lots of keywords. Every week, different keywords from same niche are bringing in sales. Some keywords converted once and never convert again. Are these keywords non performing?

    Thanks again!

Do you have a keyword tracking system/software in place? You will really need one if you really want a profitable campaign.

Also you wana distinguish between lead gen offers and sales, as lead generation should perform at a much higher conversion rate than sales.
