    hey guys,

I will explain the problem I have faced with Godaddy and I hope you help me solve this problem.

Last year I registered the domain www.lincolony.com from godaddy.

In that time I did not notice that Godaddy is an American company and Iran is under the USA trade sanction.

then godaddy banned access to its website from Iranian IPs.

guess what happened? I could not renew the domain at the end of its year.

after expiration, I told one of my friends from another country to go to my account and unlock the registar and delete the domain.

Now take a look at www.lincolony.com whois . and tell me what I can do. :(

What will happen if I try to transfer the domain from another registrar? because I have heard that an email will be sent to the email of the whois of the domain. If the owner does not want the transfer, he should go to the godaddy account and cancel it, if not, the doamin will be transfered.

But my situation is a bit differnet. I dont know what is the email of the whois now !!!!

Can you guys help me out?

    thanks,

As the old country saying goes you are between a rock and a hard place.

You are right about the transfer process. If you are the admin and can not be reached nothing will happen. If it is locked and you can't get to the site to unlock it again nothing can happen.

Your best bet is to just let in expire and buy it again from some place where you can legally trade. It may take up 90 days after the expiration date before it becomes available for repurchase.

The less traffic it gets in the meantime the better the chance no one else will grab it up. That means if I were you I would edit my post to delete the link.

    Good luck

    Thanks for your nice reply.

We are living the the super modern world but yet innocent people are getting killed in afghanistan, iraq, palestine and other places (because of religion, politics and other issues) The problem I faced with godaddy is something similar, I am victim of the politics between Iran and USA.

no the site is not getting any traffic, I just need the domain just for my emails.

the last time, I had access to godaddy, I managed to unlock it .
I even unlcoked another domain name which was the primary domain of my dedicated server, but I transfered it before it expired. An email was sent to the whois of that domain (which was my email) and since I wanted it to be trasnfered I did nothing and the domain was successfully transfered.

Now can I do the same thing with this domain too? what will happen since there is no email in the whois (to cancel the confirmation of the transfer)?

    Thanks,
