Dishonest Web Design companies

Hi just asking if anyone would know of a good place where one can report Dishonest Web Design companies?

Basically a friend of mine he approached a company, paid the required deposit but no work was carried out afterwards, now the guy has done a disappearing act.

 

I don't know of any right off, but I do know that was pretty lame of the company.

Just google search it and find reviews, then add your review. Reporting it to the government is useless unless you got scammed a ton of money.

write a review about him.. there are tons of fly by night designers.. so do a bit of research first before hiring one..

Do you mind sharing the name of this shady design company? I'd like to research a little too. Also, what country do they allege they're established (since laws obviously differ country to country).

 

Maybe contact your bank or credit card company and report it. You could get the money back and possibly get them to go after the person. Best of luck!

Well its an indian based company, i have also seen some of indian designers on getafreelancer.com having so many bad reviews from the buyers that they ask for more money and just doing some amount of designing work. Its just better to stay away from them.

so the tones of mantras and constantly elbowing didn't alert you to the fact that they're a bit dodgy?

 

Actually he found these guys through Scriptlance a site full of Dodgy over priced Asian programmers, this he obviously found out a little too late. He said that he only had a glimpse of the webgear.in site, at that moment in time it was an urgent matter that needed fast response from someone and webgear.in was one of the bidders that claimed that they can complete the project within a few days.

 

I asked Tee and he said that when he called the numbers on the contact form it goes through to a call centre type of receptionist and she just takes a message! No one gets back to him :-(

what over priced programmers? I find scriptlance as too cheap in fact. I prefer GAF and RAC
