Journalist throws shoe at India's home minister

NEW DELHI: A Sikh journalist threw a shoe at India's home minister during a news conference on Tuesday after getting angry with his reply to a question on1984 riots in which hundreds of Sikhs were killed. The shoe missed Palaniappan Chidambaram, who lent back to avoid it. He later smiled and asked security guards to take the reporter out of the room.

I can understand Sikh anger and rage. Chidambram should understand their pain too. He should be more sensitive, and avoid giving out blanket replies in defense of murderers.

I understand Chidambram has never done any harm to anyone. He is one of the smartest politicians we have... But he is a politician nevertheless. And his defense of 1984 Sikh rioters belonging to his party cannot be tolerated.

    P.S.
I am biased against Chidambram because he is a Keynesian economist.

Did anyone see the throw? It was like a girly throw that looked like it was meant to miss. Maybe thrown to him but not AT him. This was for the publicity it seems to me.

It was just an emotional outburst ... There was no intention to harm the Home minister...
He is one of the respected, learned and smart politician ....
He was sitting very close the the Home minister....
It was just a momentary act of stupidity for which he later regretted ....

yes, I saw it in TV.
I dont think Mr. Chidambaram deserves it.
He is an eminent person and in fact he was the finance minister all these years until Mr. Patil resigned as Home Affairs Minister.
