So, I'm just thinking, how can people believe in that who doesn't exist? There are no proofs, it is just stupid. Do people scare to die and think that end is after death? That's why they believe? What do you think, guys?
Why people believe in ghosts ? Anyway, I do believe that there are a few things which we can't explain ( mags, etc. ), but .. god is like having a virtual gf ( sorry, that's only my opinion )
People believe in God since they are raised on the idea. I think if people learned logic before religion they would have a harder time accepting faith. However, since religion is taught at an early age, it is all you have to believe in and it sticks with you.
Frankly I think religion generally serves two purposes for the average person. One, religion answers everything that a person has no answer for. People seek answers for just about everything and seem to lack the capacity to accept that sometimes there is no answer. The answer to everything unanswerable thus becomes 'god', such as "why do humans exist" or "what is the purpose of life". In earlier times, religion is used to explain everything unknown, like the cause of wind. Until science or someone else comes up with a different answer. Second, it provides a reason for everything. People don't seem capable of accepting randomness or coincidence. If their loved one dies or they're extremely lucky, many assume there HAS to be a reason...
I believe in possibilities. God may not exist but then again how can you prove that little earth fairies do not live in your anus? You can't! But I have observed some really uncanny things in my time that defy conventional preconceptions of reality. This in itself does not prove a god, per se, but a wider explanation of reality than what the mundane human mind can comprehend.
People believe in god because of a huge variety of reasons. Most people have different motivations/circumstances/mechanisms that lead them to believe in god, or at least declare that they believe in god. However, none of these can be said to be based on research, evidence, or logic. These are non-important factors in human behaviour not only in their religious approach, but also in the financial, partner, occupation, and other decisions they make. Our brain is an organ, which makes us think, that we can think. But in most cases, we are driven by primitive impulses and instincts and not by clear logical thought.
Rephrase this question to why people believe in an invisible man in the sky and i'll go along with the rest of your post. You saying that God doesn't exist at all... prove it. I believe God is within all of us.
Prove that he exists. I guess that you believe in, because you scare and just can't face up that death is the end of our existence. People have to believe and they believe without any logic, because knowing that someday will be the last day is killing. So it is just my position.
What makes you think I am scared that death is the end and what does that have to do with God exactly? How can you explain your mind? Your thoughts? How is that voice in your head reading my typed words to you? I call that God. How does that mean i'm scared of dying and going back to nothing but dust?
I think it's a mixture of things really. People are terrified of their own mortality and therefore subscribe to the life after death theory. Some people use religion to forward their own personal agendas and justify their actions. Some people need it as a way to explain their own existence and the meaning of life. In the end we all have to find a way to come to terms with what we are and why we are here.
Perhaps you could calm down the tone and examine whether there have been "proofs." I actually think there are good reasons to believe in God. In fact, over the centuries, many civilizations have come up with valid arguments for the existence of God. Here are a few: 1) Argument from Contingency 2) Cosmological Argument 3) Argument from Morality 4) Ontological Argument I believe there are more than this. I have found though my own general thoughts on the issue. Also, with these arguments laid down, what arguments are there for atheism? Naturally, there would be two ways, according to my thoughts of demonstrating good proof of atheism: 1) That the concept of God is irrational or contradictory 2) That the universe has been proven to not only come into existence on its own or not in need of a supernatural being to bring it into being. Just my thoughts on the issue is that these 2 points dont really compel to become an atheist. I await your further responses on this controversial yet important issue.
Let us not deny things merely because science can't explain certain things. And, let us learn to live in peace by respecting other people's faiths and maybe learn a thing or two from them.
I think, therefore I am. I am, thus I imagine. I imagine, thus I learn. I learn, thus I master I master, thus I am a god. I am a god, thus I think. The human mind can be a tool for knowledge, or a tool for ignorance, and can be wielded consciously for both, or ignorantly for both. I thank science for the oncoming singularity, because it's only a matter of time before technology brings us to the next step, upgrading bodies and minds, inherently faster, better, and stronger, living longer than now, and I hope to be on the cutting edge when it starts to take hold. I would volunteer for enhancement implants, replacement parts, and anything/everything to upgrade my own humanity - even if some would think of it as inhumanity. I want to evolve, operate at the speed of light in my mind, fiber optic nerve replacements with nanotechnology and muscle enhancements with carbon fiber implemented in my own biology. Wifi from my brain, Bluetooth in my fingertips, terabytes be damned - petabytes and more on demand, life extended not fifty, not five hundred, but thousands of years. Technology is the future, science is the savior, and math is the foundation, unless the idiots have their way. Those who believe in, and wish for the "end days" or "Revelation" are the scariest people alive. If they want doomsday - great - but they should doom themselves, not all of us. Send them on one way ticket trips to the bottom of the ocean if they're so willing to get to the end. Otherwise do the very thing you are hardwired to do just as any species on this planet is: Survive. How do people believe in God? Well, first they reject all logic, reason, science, and anything else that could contradict their "faith". Then they substitute it with a fairy-tale reality, and call it fact. That is how. Why? Well... some people are just insane, and others are taught from birth. If you want to worship something - pick something better than a genocidal (Sodom and Gomorrah) maniac and worship nature, or the sun, or paper cups. None of those have done anything on the scale of blow-up-cities or flood-whole-world. Although I reject the latter happening as the legend it sprung from was a lot less exciting (lucky trader has boat with livestock, survives regional river flood). I choose Sol, the Sun, not to worship it as a god (I save that for myself) but rather as the reason I am alive (no sun = death... duh). Sure, a risk of skin cancer... but that's better than no sun, and no life at all. Nature comes in second - and I don't mean lah-de-dah hug-a-tree, but rather respect for what everything had to go through on our blue ball of water for 1.5 billion years to reach this point of evolution for the largest and most complex, to the simplest. But some douche with a serious Jew problem, who goes around killing, damning, burning, blowing up, cracking and flooding the planet - only to change his story later when he suddenly has a change of heart and sends someone to die for the "sins" of the people he abused for thousands of years while also ignoring science and the fact - FACT - that humans have been around for 50,000 years? No thanks. You can take your Abrahamic god and shove him, figuratively speaking since there is actually nothing to shove. Tired? You bet I am. I'd rather follow Buddha, I'd rather follow Hinduism, I'd rather go back to my ancient blood of the Celtic, Nordic, Native American or Germanic pagans. I'd rather die a free mind in a fire on a stake than be brainwashed into fairytale man in the sky. I won't go without a fight though - so no I am not about to douse myself with gasoline to save y'all the trouble while you wait for your special doomsday when the zombies of all the dead to have ever lived crawl out of the ground in the name of Jesus. I'm going to follow my instinct, my highly evolved brain that took a billion years to reach this point, and my common sense. Survival at all cost, embracing technology fully, following science judiciously (note the word), respect the sun and earth, try to learn more in regards to math, and finally upgrade and evolve with the tools of man continuously. Longcat is long.
A stale piece of bread is better than nothing. And nothing is better than a big juicy steak. Therefore a stale piece of bread is better than a big juicy steak.
