I finally decided to give up on running Chitika ads. I have been using their ads since October 2005 and my results are simply horrible. I run a couple of small websites and I average around 300 uniques daily. My visitors are highly targeted and most (85%) of my traffic is from search engine results. I run Adsense and Chitika on some websites and Adsense and Amazon on others. For some reason people will click on simple product text links from Amazon but not on the Chitika ads. Adsense makes me around 1000% more than Chitika and Amazon had made double even if I only had been with them for about 3 months. The ads are for the same products (Amazon & Chitika) most of the time. The new links from Amazon (javascript product previews) look much better than the Chitika ads so right now I don’t have any reason to keep using them. Do you have reasonable results with Chitika? I know their ads “are not for every type of site†but Amazon making more was a real surprise for me.
Come on. dont give up. first. how is your aim? are you targeting your visitors to the right ads? what products are you showing? what size ad units are you using? experiment with different things, and see what works and what doesnt before deciding its not for you. take a look at this success story: http://chitika.com/blog/?p=54
My best performance site with over 1k daily visitors on average was rejected by Chitika. Later I was really happy because I have heard lots of unsuccesful stories running those ads with low or none revenue.
I removed their code from my sites too as they were auditing way too many clicks - once I did Adsense earnings went up, now thats a success story, lol.
I havent heard of anyone getting better results with chitika than other methods. I did the same, changed to adsense and made much more money.
I am in the sae boat, I make about $2.80 a day, never click on my own ads but they always filter out about half my clicks. They are also horribly slow at the moment.
Well the reason is chitika allows all warez sites and wont allow good sites lol. I have seen chitika running on many warez sites , but when i tried to apply with my site they didnt approve it
I gave up on Chitika so long ago. It just wasn't profitable for me and it was bothering my users, so I removed it and I'm back to AdSense -- they seem to be happy now. Chitika has some good potential, they just need to remarket themselves and rebrand themselves with some new strategies.
You can talk to the chitika adviser directly now here - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=111194 where he is talking about Free Tshirts raather than business lol
