    Hey,

I have written 5 or 6 good and keyword dense articles over the last few days but have only managed to get on the 2nd page of google for one of the keywords and the third page for another keyword.

Is there a good method that you or anyone uses that could boost my position in google, to get to the first page?

I've tried social bookmarking, but it had no impact atall on the placement of one my articles.

What methods do you use to get your EzineArticle on the first page?

Use keywords that actually have less than 5000 results in Google with quotes.
Eg. "how to breed betta fish" - about 1,770 results.
Shows you how many pages contain that exact phrase.

So anything under 5000 will have you in a good position to hit the top 10, works for me , time and time again :)

    good luck

That's a good idea, peaker. :) I'll need to try that. electrohead, just continue writing more articles with SEO in mind. Eventually, your articles will start making the first page. If one is already on the 2nd page, then you just need to try a bit harder to push similar articles to the first page. Also, use the specific keyword in the title, summary, and first sentence of your article. After that, place it throughout the article so that it looks natural and professional.

Thanks for the advice, the problem is some keywords when in quotes might give you less than 5000 results, but when not in quotes, which is how most people search, gives you like 3 or 4 million! I'm in the top 10 results when my keywords in quotes, just (more importantly) not without quotes.

Do you not employ any link building strategies?

Electrohed, what I mean is that you want to check how many pages in Google are indexed with those EXACT words that's why you use the quotes. If you do not use the quotes it will show all pages that have those words. So it's a way for you to know how many pages you are up against with that exact phrase.

People will be able to find you on the front page searching without quotes. The quotes are only for you and your research to work out how many pages you are competing against and are NOT required for searching by users. :)

I believe rankings will improve over the time. Building links to these pages will also help. However, I'd rather build links for my own site.

I understand that, maybe you're right and I just need to go for less competitive keywords.

How many monthly searches do you usually look for? As a minimum?

i don't, I find I get better results just using my brain and long tail keywords that are highly targeted, I learned my lesson a long time ago trying to use broad keywords to get traffic, sure I would get the hits but I wasn't converting. I get a broad keyword that is getting a decent amount of traffic and then make it longer by adding modifiers and trying to get into the mind of a potential customer. Learn to aim for people late in the buy cycle who want to pull out their credit cards and not those still in the research phase, get into this routine and you will convert at a higher rate. Long tail keywords rock, sure you may not see the traffic but you definitely see the sales

I NEVER said ALL long tail keyword searchers are buyers I was simply pointing out that you can try and compete with 1000000 others or take a different approach and make the most from your articles such as the ones on ezine by having keywords rank up without battling with everyone else using the same keywords. If he had his own site and wanted to get backlinks and SEO the thing then yes, with some hard work and patience it would push it up the rankings but he is talking about articles here, you think using broad or competitive keywords is going to cut it?

I think you should continue with your work with full confidence apart from all these problems. There is no shortcut to success and I think that if you are serious and devoted to your work, you will surely get your keywords on the front page of google search.
