LOL Google isn't going to die, it's just more conspiracy, like the thousands of other "google will die" threads at DP. The company is huge, they're a major employer of IT personnel, and is rated as one of the most sought after companies an IT person can work for. Google has revolutionized the internet and has all but killed the 2 original net big shots; IE and Netscape. Google has billions of dollars in revenue, massive stock holdings in large scale American companies and is entering other area of interest such as Cell Phones with "Android". Right now Google is trying to buy Twitter which seems to now be the biggest thing since social networking sites started. You may not like Google, but I can guarantee they're not going anywhere. If for some reason they do, I'll be the first to admit that I'm wrong, but as it stands Google as a company is sound and is not likely to die (much less lose any popularity) anytime soon.
If they quit spending money on useless ventures and focus on their ad business (which is the only money making one), then maybe not. They should get their act together on customer service and quit buying stupid Internet properties that don't do anything, like YouTube, for instance. Not worth a dime. Fun? Yes. Viral? Yes. Money maker? Doubt it. Pay attention to your real customers Google, us webmasters! (add Twitter to the list of useless websites and my life is complete. Losing proposition. Ask News Corp how MySpace is doing these days.)
Is there a tiny little chance that you are serious? You have come up with a death scenario, though. Never mind the information, switch to advertising instead. Lol.
hahahah it's a nice discussion, about being antichrist to financial judgements, hope some of us gets a bit serious sometime...
Hopefully you're diversifying your monetization methods and not leaving your lifestyle completely up to where the wind blows with the big G.
if google die, my income will die too. Google planning a googletrip to mars. They will put their large storage there.
how can they though? why would we bother to stop using it even if they went down, somebody would just buy the domain and set google up again...
Everything will come to an end but for the moment and maybe for the next decade or so, they will still be around.
You know something I agree with that but it's that same mentality of "overconfidence" that kills companies too. Just food for thought..
It is true that the majority of Google's income is coming from online ads - which is why they are buying up other Internet properties. They are looking to diversify and reduce their risk exposure by having one primary source of income. Have some of these acquisitions been losers? Sure, but they are making aggressive moves to continue to lead. Don't forget, it was "risky" moves they made early on with the Internet that got them where they are now....
u know guys Microsoft offered a money of 44 billion to yahoo to bring down google....so just you guys think hw much worth is Google...and there is no chance for such a huge business to die immediately.....
Very serious. They have struggled to make money on YouTube. People are there to have fun, relax, not learn anything or buy anything necessarily. Haven't you ever noticed that the dumbest stuff gets the most views? Like "Fred" and stuff like that? People do research there, I do as an artist and so forth, but the how-to vids do very poorly in the grand scheme. And it has been a struggle for Google. They are probably not breaking even yet, and they surely have not recouped. I like YouTube, don;t get me wrong, but it is too bad Google owns it. Great payday for the guys who sold it! Those are the real winners in this. Pay Per Click advertising works for webmasters, but sellers often never really sell anything. It is like that in advertising. 90% loss and factor in the 10% and hopefully you cover your risk. That's just the way it is.
On this one here Blackhat, I would venture to say that it would not matter who's text ads you used to accomplish this. I was trucking along with about 250 in the till and Google canceled my account. Now, I would have been happy to argue the point, however, they would not even recognize my existence. That is what I am trying to point out here. Take PayPal, for instance. They have had issues, but you can actually call them and talk to someone if you are having an issue. Google is so high and mighty they forgot who keeps them floating. Their search engine makes zero dollars without us. Sure, it's a great tool, but they didn't invent it. They didn't invent keywords either, in fact... They don't invent anything, they acquire it.
