It all just seems redundant it all you are doing is monitoring posts. It makes no sense because you get an automatic email when any post that you have participated in is updated, so there must be more to why you need this than just monitoring posts. It's not like you are the first to think of this, it's an old idea.
Hmansfield, it's all about time and efficiency. Why would anyone in their right mind wait for each email and then check them one by one, when you could have all 40 forums/threads up on the screen, possibly highlighting when a new post is made.
Well, you can do that, but that wil be spamming and bad thing is there are such softwares available, which would allow you to post different forums at the same time.
No, it's not spamming. Where in my post is spamming implied? I didn't even mention the word "post". Everyone calm down and stop being so quick to cry "spam!". I find it ironic that you claim such things when you're advertising blackhat methods.
Because a forum or the software that runs most of them doesn't move at the speed of an instant messaging platform which it seems it what the OP is trying to achieve, and they are not meant for that. No matter how "fast" you make it on your end, it will still only be as fast as the platform or the community, so it just seems like a waste. I use Trillian with all my public email addresses, and IM's connected so that it's only one thing running. Anytime I get an update, response, email, or instant message from a forum, Facebook, My Space, Yahoo IM, AOL IM, MSN, ICQ, Skype, Linked In, Plaxo, DM or @Response from Twitter, a comment or contact on one of my blogs or websites, or sale from an affiliate program, ..I get an instant little message window at the bottom of my screen, and a nice little chime that is as fast as the sending platform will allow. I don't need to have all those apps open to communicate efficiently with them. I get a message, I click and answer it....it's really simple, and I am covering a hell of a lot more than just forum posts. It just seems like too much work to something that is not as efficient on the other end, that you cannot control anyway. You may want to be efficient, but you are not thinking efficiently. Having 40 forums open just seems like a huge waste of time.. forums don't move that fast. Trillian is free by the way, you just need to explore how to use the tools you already have.
I think you've misunderstood his point, because the server's side is irrelevant to this issue. I'll try and illustrate what I think he means: Your idea: This is how it could be with a script:
No it doesn't. I just responded PDQ using the method I just described. I also answered a Twitter, and an email on another account in between (Time in between was 9 minutes, and it probably would have been quicker if I was just sitting here and starting at the screen). You don't have to log in every time, just set the cookie and you are already logged in every time you hit the page. The other thing is, you would have to set a refresh rate to insure that you are seeing each post immediately. It still just seems like more work and resources on your computer hogged up that don't have to be to get the same response as just automating your communications as a whole.
are you planning to say the same thing at each of 40 forums? There is a way to do it, but again what is the point?!
I am trying to achieve what this gentleman has just Typed . I have no intention to spam different forums . If ever i had to spam i would spam thousands of forum using Xrumer .
I'm sure the work programming would be insignificant over the work saved if one were to follow the steps I posted earlier, in the long run. With regards to a refresh-rate, I see no problem with that. It doesn't have to be a physical refresh used by a top-level language like PHP, as lower-level languages, such as C and C#, don't require scripts to be reloaded in order to preform checks and subroutines, nor do they even require a browser's output buffer for that matter. Anyway, if someone wants it, there's a demand for it at the end of the day.
Google reached its actual position with smart ideas to cheat and steal people...thats how internet works.
