Got Scammed! Need help!

Ok.. I got scammed on MSN. I designed / coded a template for a guy and he never payed me. He went offline when I asked him for payment and didn't come online yet. I emailed him too but he didn't reply me.

    The website is: www.stationad.com

I know I am stupid, because I transferred the files to him before payment. I don't want you guys giving me advice that I should have done that and that. But rather help me what should I do now.

I have checked Whois and his website is hosted on Hostgator.

I have no idea what should I do.

    Thanks

Well, hostgator may or may not help. you can try complaining them but he can of course change the host and put the site back up again.

in that case i would suggest you to make this template free. sell some sponsored links and designer links and atleast you can get back some money. and "his" template wont be unique anymore.

I see he run a PTC website. He need credibility for this kind of websites, so... ask him again to pay you. give him 24 hours, or smt... Maybe he has problems, but i don't think so :) Tell him if he don't pay, you will post everywhere where his site is listed about this scam.

If he still don't pay you: search with this query : http://www.google.ro/search?hl=ro&c...hs=JtQ&q=www.stationad.com&btnG=Căutare&meta=
then, follow every link where his site is listed, and post about your problem. If he scammed you, he will scam his member too.

Also, follow rome9t9's suggestion to get back some money.

Since you are creator of that template, it is your right to let know Hostgator for the misuse of a copyrighted work on one of their clients websites, in voilation of your copyrighted work, and you should tell them you will take further legal action if it is not taken down, and as rome9t9's said, you should make it a free template, add some sponsored links, get some traffic and possibly money back.

    This is the best way:

Find a sponsor and make it a free theme.

You can earn some money from it and at the same time piss the guy off.

Just release it as a free theme and he'll need a new one ( though, it means that he will try to scam again ).

I'm quite surprised at the comments as they are very minimal in getting an effective end-result.

This is what I would do if an invoice goes unreceived.

    - Contact IC3 (if located within North America)
    - CALL HostGator and do some social engineering to phish for more information about the client
    - Hire forum/ blog spammers [for pennies] and spam his site's brand with negative reviews
    - Deface his site (kidding.... or am I?) :D

If you would like I can be quite persuasive when it comes to accounts receivable as I used to run a collections firm in Perth (australia) for a few years.

    Cheers,
    Al

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. As one of the members has said contact hostgator and say that the site he is using is copyrighted material. maybe they can ban him or something..

SpiderMan: Judging by the way you replied to my comment shows me that you are what we call in the industry a "deadbeat". It is harsh but true.

You would rather scrap for low sponsoring fees then retrieve the larger sums that would potentially be available.

It seems as though your business management/ execution skills need polishing [or building].

Think about it. Getting less than $50 (maybe even $75 if the template is good enough) for a template is a waste of time.

I have yet to meet any logical individual who would be keen on getting $50 for 5+ hours of work. Would you?

    Cheers,
