Took off "Advertise on this site" and CTR doubled overnight

After removing the "Advertise on this site" link from my Google Adsense ads my CTR has just about doubled overnight.

Just something to try on your site.

 

Reading posts like this always interests me, and I've read many similar experiences. Unfortunately I never enabled this, so I can't see a fun CTR jump But congrats! Was this another successful DigitalPoint tip?

 

If I remember correctly I read it on a site of a DP member. But having cleared my browser cache I couldn't find the link. Sorry to whoever it was, I would have credited you had I remembered.

 

How would one go about removing that text? Would it be against Google's TOS?

No. It's a voluntary option. Google checks it by default. You can uncheck it at anytime.

 

for how many days or weeks did this double last ?
and what $ number are you talking about initially 1, 2 or 3 digits $ per day ??

a short blast on particular days has no real meaning as such happens regularly
only lasting results that last weeks or a full monthand beyond are proof of a successful strategy

pls provide some numbers and dates to allow clear evaluation of that strategy

Just a heads up, it takes about a day for the update to take effect on your adsense ads after you opt out.

 

My CTR has about doubled for 3 days now. The dollar number has gone from just over $1.00-$2.00/ to $5.00-$7.00 for the past 3/days. I am a small time site. It would be interesting to see what some big Adsense earners achive with the change.

 

Mine earnings dropped 20% when I tried it.

I presume if you have a good site with good rankings where people compete to have their ads on your website it is not so good.........

That's a silly thing to say. If Adwords advertisers want to advertise specifically on a site, don't you think they know how to do it without needing to click on your "Advertise on this site" link? Unless, of course, complete retards are the only ones avertising on your site...?

Yes. It's pointless to have it. With the "Ads by Google" already there, having the "Advertise on this site" only doubles the chances of your visitors noticing that your Ads are, in fact, ads.

I actually didnt notice that you could do this until I read this thread - Im glad I came across it.

 

i just took them off. i'll get back to you on the success rate. the link ad units are what really made my CTR jump.

 

Update: Day 5 and the CTR is still up. It has been consistantly double since removing the "Advertise on this site" link.

 

This is a great idea. I did this a couple of weeks ago and saw a massive spike in earnings. It has since cooled. SO I put it back on for a while and will take it off again later?
