    hey guys and gals...

can someone please advise me with this?

    i have a website... http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/

i need to incorporate a blog to it. I already have paintlessbusiness set up in wordpress but now i need to allow people to access this blog via the website http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/.

i have http://paintlessbusiness.wordpress.com/ set up but i guess we're wanting people to go to paintlessbusiness.com and get to the wordpress that way instead.

it may be super super simple to do but my mind is a bit combujulated (is that a word?) :)

    thanks in advance...

Why didn't you just install Wordpress on your server and then use the URL pointer in the CP?

i think this is what i need to do and if this is the case it would eliminate all that time of going into each html page and inserting sidebar wordpress codes.

all i need to do is have http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress/ point to http://www.paintlessbusiness.com.

you said "use the URL pointer in the CP?"

where is the URL pointer exactly? if it's in the CP, where is the CP? what does CP stand for?

    not control panel is it?

sorry if i sound newbish with this...

Yes, CP is Control Panel. Under "Option", there are two options: "WordPress address (URI):" and "Blog address (URI):". One points to where your WP files are stored, the other one points to where you want the URL to point to.

I.e. if your blog is in /root/blog, but you want the URL to point to the root instead of /blog, "Wordpress address" would be "/root/blog" and "Blog address" would be "/root", etc.

So in your case "Wordpress address" would be http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress/ and "Blog address" would be http://www.paintlessbusiness.com

Read more about it here http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

Well if you point your Blog Address to http://www.paintlessbusiness.com, then that would be your blog's URL for you and everyone else, and not the http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress/ where you actually have the files stored. Is that what you mean?

no that's not what i meant...but it's okay. i see what your saying.

when someone goes to paintlessbusiness.com...there going to go to the actual wordpress template page...where it says hello world.

that's all i want...i want people to go to paintlessbusiness.com right now as it is...and see wordpress in that site. right now it's got a wordpress template(blue). we don't want that...

wow it's late and i'm confusing myself i think...have i confused you to?

sorry to be a bugger about this...

by doing that i got this error:

    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/1.3.36 Server at www.paintlessbusiness.com Port 80

now the page looks all screwed up...wonder why? would you know?

since playing with those urls...my entire blog control when i log in is all messed up.

what do i do? there's no template for anything anymore it just looks like html.

both paths for website and blog are: http://www.paintlessbusiness.com/wordpress now.

i played around with it some but switched it back because i was getting that error ...now that error is on every page.

    what do i do?
